No funeral or Memorial....just a funky speech?

It's your usual typical teenage drama but with a twist, one of the girl's is dead and it's not who wee initially thought it to be. My thing is did no one contact this girl's mother and tell her her child is dead? Moreover after everyone learns of her death at prom, all she gets is a funky speech. No memorial or funeral after prom/her ascension? Poor Gia got the the short end of the stick and Erica got EVERYTHING she wanted. She dies and can't finish her senior year or go to college. She won't lose her virginity. She won't get married or have kids. The least they could have done was give her a proper burial.
