Original vs. Now?

I'm a big fan of the original MacGyver, I watched the first episode of the new series but it didn't hook me in, so I didn't want to keep on watching the series. Part of it might have been that Richard Dean Anderson will always be MacGyver to me and it's really hard to see anyone else in the role.

I just wanted to ask, people who have seen and like the original, would you recommend that I check out this series or do you think I wouldn't like the reboot?
