It's dreary, depressing, and vulgar.
That was their life, which their music was a reflection of. Don't like the music, fine, everyone has their own taste. But these guys took their life experiences and used it to create, which a lot of great artists do.
The music is mostly not uplifting, and neither was this movie.
Since when did music, movies, or any artform have to be uplifting? And since this is a true story movie about the rise and fall of the group, of course this wasn't going to be uplifting, they had a harsh falling out in real life.
I was surprised that this movie did so well at the box office.
Uh, even if you don't like these guys, they brought a disrespected and mostly unknown genre to the mainstream, showed people a side of society they knew nothing about, and covered topics still relevant today. There's a reason they're in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, these guys were a big artistic and cultural impact.
