How Did the Nautilus Get Bigger 6 Months Later?

When the journeyers are using the Nautilus to escape the island, it is a relatively small, short manta-ray-shaped sub.

But in the "6 months later" scene at the end of the movie, the Nautilus appears as a much bigger, longer ship with a completely different design? 
