I genuinely do not understand, Dwain is such a good action star with some fantastic action movies under his belt. Why does he keep taking these roles where he makes a fool out of himself ( lessons should be learned from Stallones 'stop or my mom will shoot' and Arnies 'Junior' ). I know there have been some good light action movies from all three but i hope Dwain notices that action stars always flourish in '18'/'R' rated movies.

shareThe Rock wants to be a versatile "actor". He's a funny guy in his personal life, so it makes good sense to pick flicks that have some kind of humor attached to them. He's also VERY self aware of who he is. He LOVES the attention and the limelight. Doing a fun "kids" movie puts him directly in front of millions of new fans every time a new movie comes out (not to mention, the eyes of their moms also watching). Also, I suspect that he was paid insanely for doing the flick. That ALWAYS helps.

he probably doesn't want to be typecast? maybe he wants to show that he can do fun silly movies and action movies as well.
Maybe he knew this movie would be easy and fun to do, Action movies can be pretty hard on the actors. I am just speculating here, but this movie looks like a walk in the park, he gets to work with cool people, gets to do a movie that kids and his younger fans can enjoy, and he doesn't have to do much.
Could always be that he just thought the paycheck was good .

He's very comedic and children love him, in all honesty in my opinion he's not a great actor. But i really enjoy watching him in films where his charisma can come out.
He was great in Pain & Gain aswell.
Since his movies made more money then any other actor in 2013 I guess he is doing ok in his choices.Not every actor has to strive for an Oscar on every role they take. Besides he gets paid quite well since his movies make a ton of profit. He is the Burt Reynolds of the 2010's in terms of Box office success.
