Absolutely the worst camera work

How can anyone follow the fight scenes in this movie? The camera work was pathetic, in almost any scene that required following the characters the cameras were jumping everywhere. It's even worse than all of the Transformer movie fight scenes.

I hope whoever set up the camera shots in this movie never works again, because he/she doesn't know what they're doing.

word. I don't think the fight scenes would have been less boring with better camera work, but they could have at least tried to show some of the scenes from an angle where you actually see what's happening.

Camera work in such action movies these days seems to be 'inspired' from the Jason Bourne series.

All the best action money can buy.. except you can't see *beep* since cameraman has ADD and needs to move the camera around every .0001 seconds.

they need to take a long look at Gulhermo Del Toro's Paficic Rim 10 times, and learn how a fight scene should be shoot

Its really bad but its not like Quantum of Solace bad.

Pathetic cinematography and action sequences.

I was watching the fight scene Eastern Promises and it was amazing. If only they would offer a job like Taken 2 to Cronenberg.

It wasn't even as much the camera work as the editing. Usually editors pick an angle of a certain action that they like and stick with it. The editor of this flick, however, seemed to be hellbent on using every single shot that was available in order to not waste anything or to not hurt the cinematographer's feelings. The result is the messy 3-4 shot per second staccato that we now have in all the action scenes of Taken 2. Total amateur work.

Verily I say unto thee...I was put off seeing this movie because when it came out some reviewers said that the fight scenes were as bad as the truly deplorable ones in QUANTUM OF SOLACE. I eventually saw TAKEN 2 today and of course the fight scenes were nowhere near as bad as in that dreadful Bond film and I was able to follow them far better than I had expected to. Overall not as good as the first TAKEN but a good action film nonetheless and as for xenophobia...so what?

Shaky cam, what a nightmare. I honestly don't think it was too bad in this film. Check out Alex Cross, final fight especially.

AC is a crap film btw.

I don't know what film we have to thank for the original shaky cam that all the drones decided they must copy in every film ever. Bourne?

Edit, actually 2nd half of the film on a rewatch, it's pretty bad. Rose tinted spec's I guess.

** Dudes ** The editing is to save money.

The quick cuts mean they do not have to do extended takes. Instead, they do a comic-book montage of impacts, and the "action" is all by inference. You get _one_ SUV doing a turnover, and that's all. It's all to save money.

That's a good point. It's a shame they have so little interest in making a good-looking scene, though.
