No!! Sam Worthington.

Cannot pull off a Texas accent. Are you kidding me?? Just watch the trailer.

Whether or not he got the accent pitch perfect, I thought this was his best performance I've seen to date... I'd almost given up on the idea that he could act, before I watched this. Even if the accent wasn't spot on to local ears, there was definitely no Australian in it, and the same can't be said for Avatar, Clash of the Titans, etc...

This is the first film I've seen him in. And hopefully the last.

He seemed to struggle with the accent and mumbled most of his lines. At times, I actually had to turn on the DVD subtitles to see what he was saying.

its too soon for him to be taking lead roles in movies he not good enough yet you have to work your way up to get that ,very hard to take him seriously ,he ruined this movie could not understand a word he was saying so I've just switched off half way no point , he tried to get a Texan accent so much he was incoherent ,he needs to do more background roles first ,,,

I'm watching it right now and SW is doing a pretty good job.

We're gonna need a bigger boat.

reply

Yeah, he did a good job, but jumping in bulls..t-bandwagon is more funnier in their opinion (can`t understand nothing, accent, mumbling, blaa, blaa, blaa...)

as awful as Sam Worthington is, he wasn't the worst thing about this movie. Not that he would've done any better had his character actually been written with a sense of purpose--but every single character in this movie is incredibly shallow. Seriously, there's nothing remotely interesting about any of the performances due to how mundane each character is.
