The film starts by character waking up in the middle of action.. obviously confused and just going with the flow. Much like when we dream. (THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT, because this is a real dream, and rekall dream is actually nothing like a dream) We don't remember the start of a dream. Clearly if the rekall machine can implant fake dreams/memories it can easily manipulate them
. Also lets not forget the ridiculous scene stops. Where the world seemingly caters to the main character (dreamer) can do whatever he needs to in that moment without any interference. And im not talking about it as if its intended to be like that. A plot. No its all a dream.
The only part it questions the whole thing. Is he at rekall the entire time and those dreams of him being an agent before rekall are real. because if they are, then its not a dream.
However people do dream ridiculous things... things that they could swear on their life were real. Like a schematic of some device dreamed of that made all the sense in the (dream) world. But when u wake up it's nothing but gibberish. He could simply have some recurring nightmare of a life he wishes he had or something. And the asian guy spoiled the plot for the entire movie word for word. Coincidence? I dont think so.. that's why the entire movie after rekall scene is a simulation done by that dream machine. And if thats not enough. The director of first total recall and schwarzenegger himself said it's all a dream.
