I was interested in hearing this. Personally i watched it dubbed, i find the dub for this very well done and even better then the Japanese version.

Personally, I prefer to watched the dubbed versions.
I find subtitles to be distracting and frustrating. I would rather be WATCHING the series than having my eyes glued to the bottom of the screen to know what's being said (hard to follow a story if you don't know what's going on!)
It's rude to just assume that everyone who prefers dubs is lazy. Not everyone on Earth can read that fast, especially when the print is so small. Most of the time, the subtitles change too quickly for me to read them without pausing every minute or two. It gets annoying.
I have watched some things subtitled such as both Battle Royale films, xxxHolic, Jigoku No Shoujo, and both FMA films.

I went for the Dub. It was solid for the most part. The only thing I didn't like was that some of the voices started to sound recycled at points. Beyond that though all of the voice actors did a good job.
What's funny though is I found myself watching the Sub for a few minutes a few times before I realized I wasn't watching the Dub (my player required that I switch the settings after opening each new episode).
Watching Subs isn't that tough, I can understand the thing about wanting to keep focused on what's going on and the art / etc.

I assumed that the dubbed version was going to be horrible (because I think most dubbed versions are horrible, and I honestly prefer listening to Japanese), but it turns out that the dubbed version isn't bad at all.
I still prefer the Japanese VAs, but it's definitely watchable in English.
The only thing is, I can't stand Mustang and Ling's English VAs. I also felt kind of uncomfortable listening to Envy's English VA. I'm not really sure why, though. I loved his Japanese VA.
I've watched the entire series both subbed and dubbed. That being said, I think Vic Montagna was a superior Edward. The Japanese VA for Envy was fantastic. His scene with Roy Mustang where Envy described how he killed Maes Hughes is chilling. You can almost taste Envy's love of fooling and then killing Hughes in cold blood. Compare that with his/her(?) description of killing the child in Ishaval to start the War of Extermination.
You can tell Envy loves his/her work.
Vic was admittedly very good, I recently rematched the first FMA subbed and I missed his voice, although Romi Pak did an amazing job in the original version. I also really liked Laura Bailey's Lust...
As I said in this topic somewhere on the first page, I found Kimblee and Scar a lot more interesting in the Japanese version and the dub deprived the characters of parts of their personality. Kimblee just had such an amazing way of expressing himself in the original version that did not translate in the dub.
I watched it dubbed, then went back and watched it again subbed.

I also assumed the dub would be awful, so I went with subbed. I've been wary of dubs since I saw a dubbed episode of Naruto. *shudder*
If I have to be like them, I'd rather be no one.
I have just started watching this and so far I have watched the two first episodes subbed. I am from Sweden so I am very used to reading subs and it doesn't bother me at all. My problem with the english version is that I can much easier hear when the voice acting isn't good and it also seems weird watching a japanese series in english. For me it just doesn't feel like anime if they talk english. I watched the Simpsons when I didn't know any english and I prefered to hear the original cast over some swedish dub. A dub can never match the original IMO.

I watched it subbed. The first time I saw it, I watched the first episode dubbed and I didn't think anything was wrong with it but my boyfriend said it was really bad. (As a side note, he'd seen it before, subbed.) So we continued watching the rest of it subbed and I felt indifferent about it until one time we accidentally started watching the dubbed version of one episode (I think it was the one where Ed, Ling and Envy are inside Gluttony's stomach) and I realized how horrible of a match Ed's voice was. Oh my god, it really was so bad. I mean there's nothing wrong with the dubbed version if you've never seen the subbed version, but if you have, you realize that none of the characters match their English voices.

I go with the dub for reasons a lot of posters have already stated. I personally think that the dub for both FMA animes is perhaps the best acted and most fitting dub of anything I've ever watched.
Vic Mignogna, Wendy Powell, Laura Bailey, Travis Willingham, Colleen Clinkenbeard and Brittney Karbowski as Ed, Envy, Lust, Roy, Riza and Selim/Pride are particularly fantastic imo.
