Is this okay for a 4year old?

I'm babysitting today, and there aren't any good children's movies out right now in theatres, so I was thinking about this one. It's not animated, but will it hold a child's attention, and its not too violent is it?

show movie the African kids,
and they will laugh and enjoy the most!
(specially violent parts)

Depends.. if you're an American violence is ok as long as there is no sex lol that's kinda the trend these days.

It has violence and suggestive violence(people being eaten alive) and some painful parts that you wouldn't believe are for children.

It's LotR type of violence. I'm not sure if a 4 year old should watch it, but it is enjoyable for an adult and some younger viewers.

I have a 4 year old, this movie would scare the hell out of her, she'd sleep with my gf and I for at least 2 months out of fear.

It's far too scary for that age

While I wouldn't call the movie scary, it is way too violent for a child. The giants are more cartoon-like than a nightmare :). I laughed at the crazy second head, nose pickin' chef, and the afro giant.

The problem is the violence. There's a stabbing and humans and animals being eaten by giants. When the giant eats someone, they dont show any gore, and its not even close up. The giant picks the human up, and just before its about to bite something off, the camera changes to another angle or viewpoint. In one scene, the camera switched to a viewpoint several yards away right before a giant took a bite, but you can clearly make out a headless human :). They did that with a sheep too. This might be a little too much for a young child to digest :).

Teens and up.

Don't let anybody tell you what you can or can not do. it's your decision for what you let your kids watch, if you think it's too scary for them don't watch it if you think that they can handle it, not all four year olds are the same. for some it will be scary for others I wont be.

Sorry for showing some serious prejudices and don´t worry too much.

Finally I understand why you Americans are shooting each other all the time. It´s not only because you have the most ridiculous rifle law in the world. No, some of you really seriously consider to show such a film to a 4 year-old child - not to speak of the fact that it never ever would understand a story behind the flood of Images. (Yes I know, that this film has almost no story and by the way, my wife and some of my friends believe, that some of the films I´m looking with my 9 year-old son are too early for him.)

I guess, many of the "liberal" people here would sound pretty different if you could see a breast of the Princes - or even worse - the penis of a Giant (a giant penis). Crazy Americans.
(Please have a look at the first sentence again.)

It is not the place of a baby sitter to make that kind of decision, surely?? If I was that parent and hasn't been consulted, I'd be bloody livid.
My rule of thumb as a parent is if I don't want t be guided by the certificate, I have to watch it first myself.

This is almost a joke thread. This movie is soo sooo soooo not for a 4 year old. I don't even have kids and I know that. Aside from the adult themes all throughout the movie, and the violence, and just damned scary looking giants...this must have been a really really young babysitter. Can't be that boring watching the kid sheesh.
