Nothing wrong with that scene, otherwise we'd have endless debates here if Batman was dead or not. He's not dead. He's living a life somewhere else with Catwoman, selfishly I might add, while Gotham City recovers from the worst terrorist attacks in its history.

Once they show the scene where Fox finds out the autopilot was fixed months ago, then they had to show what Bruce did afterwards: he went to start a new life with Catwoman somewhere in retirement
