80s hair bands or 90s grunge bands?

what kind of rock music you like better and why?

I much prefer the 80s hair bands cause the music was a lot more fun, carefree, has more of an upbeat, high energy feel to it, the musicians and the vocal harmonies were also a lot better

There is still a lot of 80s influence in our culture today. You'd be surprised how much popular entertainment relies on references from that era in music sampling, clothes, etc. "How I Met Your Mother" probably wouldn't have much dialogue, as an example. To say nobody dresses in 80s gear is a very blanket statement. Could be a regional thing (NYC), but many women still reference it in their fashion. Some hipster guys are trying to bring the derby back as well.

The 90s gave a different perspective (much like the 70s) as an answer to all the happy-go-lucky stuff that both entertained and blinded the public. It made the youth a bit more conscious of their world mentally and politically and question things. Sure corporations saw it as a way to manipulate, no doubt. Truth be told, not everything is happy-go-lucky as some facets of our culture would have us believe.

80s style heavy metal created by a band formed this century. The album came out last year. And there are many bands like that.
Conclusion - you are an idiot who can't differ music from rain.

WALK THE MOON - "Shut Up and Dance" is an eighties inspired dance track and certainly not just "a frog in a vast sea".

Every era has trends that they was famous for and then trends that they're respected for but not as highly recognized.

The 80's are known for hair metal and synthesizer rock/pop. Neither of those piqued my interest. However, it also gave birth to thrash metal and progressive metal (Metallica, Anthrax, Megadeth, Slayer, Fates Warning, Queensryche and Dream Theater). All of those bands still run regular rotation in my collection.

The 90's are known for grunge and rap metal. Although, I do like certain bands like Soundgarden, Alice in Chains and Rage Against the Machine, the scenes themselves got too nauseating too fast. However, it also had bands like Fear Factory, Machine Head, Sepultura and of course Pantera.

Anyone else wanna negotiate?

I am kind of split between those 2 choices. Like songs and bands in both of those decades. But I am a 70s fan for sure. Boston's first album, Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty.

Overall 80s music destroys the 90s.

The 90s only had one genre that was better and that was dance music

Certainly not grunge. Grunge sux. Ugly music, ugly musicians.

80's all the way man! But I don't like the term "hair". It was just good, heavy music.

I grew up in the 90's, so I'm more partial to the grunge scene. For all the 80's rock fans saying that the grunge scene didn't have much talent: listen to Soundgarden. Chris Cornell's one of the best singers in rock music.

The other grunge bands had talented musicians as well: Nirvana had a great singer/songwriter with Kurt Cobain and drummer in Dave Grohl. Pearl Jam has a charismatic frontman in Eddie Vedder. Alice in Chains had the great singer/guitarist duo of Staley and Cantrell along with their memorable harmonies.

I also feel the grunge scene's music sounds more timeless and it sounds like it could've have been recorded today. The 80's stuff became dated by the early 90's and it sounds too connected to that time period.

Still, I'm not going to disregard the 80's hair scene, as that scene had its moments (BTW, I don't count Guns N' Roses as part of this style). I like Bon Jovi and Motley Crue's early stuff. Sebastian Bach of Skid Row's also a talented singer with a great voice.
