We do not talk like that...

Ok, I'm from Baton Rouge and travel to New Orleans alot and have many friends there and we do not sound like that. It was hilarious to hear them overdue it. It got so bad where I had to put the closed caption on b/c I couldn't understand them.

Wow, and nobody picked on Jerry O'Connell for not sounding like he was from Boston, with the nasally accent they have that jumps out at you as soon as anyone from there opens their mouth? (And I have met plenty in the military and am from the NE originally).

Practically every movie I've ever seen that has characters with a heavy accent has an IMDB discussion board about how horrible the accent was, and couldn't they use actors from the local.

I think the last movie that got praised for an accent was Stella. Bette Midler tackling the unique Watertown accent.

I am from LA (lower Alabama) and if I am putting on an accent as a joke, I can sound a bit like that but not when talking normally. I lived in Louisiana for a year and they definitely don't talk like that. I rarely see a show (movie or TV) that has "southerners" in it that sound like real people and not caricatures.
