To those 'I KNEW WHO THE DEVIL WAS BEFORE IT STARTED' people....shut up.

I find it stupid how people say they suspected the old lady.

Thinking that it was someone who already died is a possible and plausible thought. But even if you did reach the stage of believing that the Devil was actually a dead person:

Everyone "seems" to forget (roll of eyes here) that another person, VINCE, was dead first before the old woman. Why are there never any posts of people saying they suspected Vince? If people really had in mind that a character who was already killed off and deceased was the Devil, they would have been voting for Vince, the first victim to die, in more chance of the old woman, who was merely the 2nd character to be kicked off.

It's weird how there aren't any posts stating that people suspected Vince as the devil. But you know what? If he was really the Devil, I bet a lot of people would have been like, "I KNEW WHO THE DEVIL WAS BEFORE IT BEGAN, I TOTALLY SUSPECTED THE SALESMAN, HE WAS THE FIRST TO DIE".

So if you're one of those false people who said that they genuinely believed it was the old woman throughout the entire movie....just shut up.

How about the fact that some people have seen enough horror movies to easily predict outcomes? Movies haven't come up with many new ideas/tactics so it's fairly easy (albeit, boring...a large reason I don't go to the theater much anymore and just wait for movies to come out on home release) to predict what's going to happen. It doesn't make those who claim they knew who the devil was as "false people"...it just means they watch more horror movies than others

For the record, it's also entirely possible that some of those people really are just, "I knew the whole time..." when they really didn't. Just saying not ALL of them are, as your post suggests.

Not saying she wasn't but I had a strong feeling myself that she was the devil simply because I wouldn't expect it. Every old(er) lady I know is bitchy and seems like they're entitled to it; they seem like they've 'earned the right to be a bitch' and don't care how they treat others in any form. Due to that, I originally figured it was the same situation. I didn't originally expect the old lady to be the devil but she was. At the same time, I wasn't surprised by it, either.

To the OP: Few people suspected the salesman because he was an obvious red herring. His obnoxious attitude made it easy to dislike him, and indeed the characters first suspected him as well (before people were dying, when just the young woman was attacked). Thus, he was written off pretty early on as a "Scream twist".

The old woman, on the other hand, follows the "suspect the unexpected" stereotype to the dot. 'Cause who would suspect an innocent old lady? Only everyone whose seen the countless other times when the old lady is the devil. It's a twist so predictable that it usually only gets used on TV now.

Which is actually why I didn't suspect the old lady. It was so unexpected that it was too obvious. I thought they would take a middle ground between the two, and actually suspected the young woman. Oh well, sometimes you're wrong.

Well, it is either the old lady or the young lady. 50/50. Seems reasonable that many people would get it right even if through pure guessing. Unlikely to be the men who are murderers since they are so physically suited to it.

no one figured out who the Devil was. they just can't admit it

I thought it was her as well.

I watched it for the first time last night and I thought it was the younger woman from the beginning. I was surprised when it was the older woman.

Its understandable Spike is strong and mysterious and sort of compact but well muscled

I thought it was the 3rd person from the left who was crossing the road when the police were outside the building having just escaped the falling glass.

Imagine my surprise when it was actually someone who was IN the lift!!!

Maybe.
