This is a strange one...

The cinematography and editing are mediocre, making sure to let you know at all times exactly how you should feel about characters or what's happening on screen.
The original music is uninspired and vulgarly underscores in the most obvious ways the actions and emotional content of each scene (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mickey_Mousing).
The actors all ham it up to 11 and are often mere caricatures of the original actors, with ridiculous voices.

And yet, the story of how The Godfather came to be made is so interesting that the show is oddly watchable. Still, it brings nothing to the table that the memoir of Al Ruddy doesn't already. Might as well read the book.

I suspect the Paramount execs who greenlit and produced this series are closer to the ones who played it safe and tried to make a quick buck out of The Godfather in order to pump up the price of the studio's shares at the time, than the ones who fought to make it possible.

Did Ruddy actually write a book? The Offer is "based on the experiences of Al Ruddy in Making The Godfather." A rather odd credit..
