Anaesthesia

So i have never ever heard of a surgery where a patient was anaesthetized in pre-op especially a back surgery where they have to flip him over to operate on....

I received back surgery as a child and before actually being wheeled away to be surgically operated on, I was with my parents and a woman injected something in me and told me I would feel it in ten seconds. Next thing I remember I'm waking up and the surgery is over. I don't even recall saying bye to my parents or bring wheeled away.

I had a knee replacement a few years ago, and I had a similar experience. The anesthesiologist came into pre-op and told me he would be giving me general anesthesia. He injected something into my IV line, a pre-op, I assumed, like Demerol. That's SOP, to relax you before going to the OR. They began to wheel me off, and the next thing I know I'm back where I started. I asked the nurse, "What happened?" Or maybe I said "Huh?" She said it's all over. I checked and sure enough my leg was all bandaged up.
