Watched it today; best third film ever, just a brilliant film period.

I came across the thread title "Watched it today; best superhero film ever, just brilliant film period" on the Avengers page again and now I think of this film. It's amazing that Marvel can now give us at least one film a year where people can use terms like "the best ever" and mean it.

Avengers is still the best genre film but IM3 is now the best genre film that's third in a trilogy.

This film was total garbage period.

reply

This film was amazing period.

reply

Amazing and very well received.

I accept your surrender.

I agree its a great movie and was a great summer movie as well so much fun! Not better than The Dark Knight Rises last summer or even The Avengers but reallly good I hate seeing and hearing the hate! So dumb

reply

I disagree. IM1 was far superior to IM3. IM2 was also more enjoyable than IM3. I was very bored watching IM3 and kept checking my watch. IM3 lacked energy, and the humor felt off for me. Not to mention several blatant examples of stupidity.

For example, Tony challenges the Mandarin and gives out his home address; yet, he has no surveillance or automated defenses he places around his house? That he has no idea that choppers are approaching and firing missiles at his house (which *sets off the rest of the story*) until they hit? Doesn't sound like something you'd expect from a super genius who makes machines to pretty much do everything around his house. Smells like plot device to me. Not to mention, he has an entire army of automated Iron Men at the end of the film.

Next, you have the president's security detail allowing War Machine on board Air Force One without checking who's inside first. That's probably one of the dumbest lapses of security I've ever seen -- again, just a device to allow Tony to have his heroic rescue sequence.

should no longer be considered a weapons genius.....even an ak 47 could of bought down some thirty year old + bell jet rangers down

To live and die in la...the most underrated movie in history! See it

reply

I agree that these are pure plot devices...
In some ways, you'd almost wish that the villain would kill Pepper Potts just to teach Tony a lesson for not being so careless. But I digress, it is just a film [shrug].

As far as stupidity and geniuses go, it's not THAT farfetched.... there was the true story of an MIT graduate who got his arm caught in a crevice while out in the wild. His genius did help him in some spots... If you've heard of it, you'd probably already know what I'm talking about, and ironically enough, you won't need to peak at the spoilers anyways. OTOH, I feel like I would be spoiling a major thing, so... when he left for the great outdoors, he told no one... not even his family or friends that he was going out. It probably would've made things better if the search coptors didn't have to do a brute force search for him.

ORANGE for all

I can see people liking IM1 over IM3 but that doesn't take away from the fact that IM3 is probably the best number three film the genre has ever seen.

reply

Really the person that said superhero movies just don't get better than this was right on the mark. It's how you need to do these solo films when you have a cast that is this good with two other quality films in the bank.

reply

I love that Marvel is dialing up different tones and flavors. Keeping everything "cookie cutter" would doom them. Thor films are so different than Iron Man films. IM3 was very far away in tone from TDW and I found that to be wonderful.

I do think New Year's resolutions can't technically be expected to begin on New Year's Day, don't you? Since, because it's an extension of New Year's Eve, smokers are already on a smoking roll and cannot be expected to stop abruptly on the stroke of midnight with so much nicotine in the system. Also dieting on New Year's Day isn't a good idea as you can't eat rationally but really need to be free to consume whatever is necessary, moment by moment, in order to ease your hangover. I think it would be much more sensible if resolutions began generally on January the second.

reply

As long as we remain true Marvel fans, no one needs any other resolutions.

How can 2014 measure up to such a great start to phase 2 is the real question.

reply

I really need to watch this again. I should have watched as a Christmas movie.

reply

Man, this just blows away all other number three films that come to mind. Just blows them away.

Amazing and very well received pretty much sums up the reaction to this film.

Iron Man Fact: For the first time ever in an “Iron Man” movie, Pepper Potts, played by Gwyneth Paltrow, gets to don a suit in Marvel’s “Iron Man 3.” Paltrow did not mind wearing the suit, finding it to be light and comfortable—not to mention that her kids thought she was really cool.

reply

Don't ever be afraid to defend this movie.

reply

I re-watched it today and yes, it's still just as brilliantas the first time I saw it.

reply

It's a fine film but calling it the best part 3 in a trilogy is silly.

The ones that i find better:

The Dark Knight Rises
The Lord of The Rings: The Return of the King
The Matrix Revolutions
Star Wars Episode III Revenge of the Sith

The ones that i find as good as:

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
Star Wars Episode VI Return of the Jedi
Alien 3
Robocop 3
Lethal Weapon 3
Rambo III
Army of Darkness

The ones that i find worse:

Little Fockers
The Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult
Die Hard with a Vengeance
Jurassic Park III
Honey, We shrunk Ourselves
Beverly Hill Cop 3

reply

I needed a Marvel pallet cleaner. Remembering a great recent Marvel film helps. Thank God for the Iron Man trilogy.

reply

Did anyone else catch that Oscar tribute to heroes? It was perfect. Lot's of Tony Stark!

reply

This movie is so underrated. 8 out of 10 critics liked it but what where those other 2 smoking?

reply

Look at the Winter Soldier critics. A few are chiming in now to be different or because they were offended by Disney at one point in their meaningless careers. Does it matter?

reply

How can 2014 measure up to such a great start to phase 2 is the real question.

The answer so far is brilliantly.

reply

X-Men Days of Future Past re-started the year IMO. Spider-Man really hurt momentum and Godzilla stumbled but X-Men kick started everything again.
