"Got you two down as a pair of George Michael fans."

Forgive me for intruding on a somewhat (weirdly and darkly? Or just otherwise?) humorous film moment and the line uttered by Jason Statham's character in this movie but... (And big lol.)

I thought they loved and/or appreciated him for his MUSIC.

So when people normally say FANS, never mind what err "sexuality" or "orientation" someone is, about a MUSIC ARTIST, they mean admirers of his creative art work and not his... you know?

Or does and can FAN mean something else particularly in that type of line being uttered, regardless of even how much they are a fan of their MUSIC?

Some people may not even KNOW what orientation someone is, and for a long while probably didn't (Wham! and Mr Michael were popular long before the internet went public, for one) or even care, they may just admire and appreciate their music.

And I wonder if the character to whom that line was uttered couldn't maybe refute it OR ask - "Wait, you don't mean his music?" - lol.
