But...
No chemistry.
No comedy.
No romance.
It looks like a rom-com but it doesnt fulfill its promise. At the end of the day it feels like bits and pieces of other rom-coms stuck together. Regarding the story: you cant have action happening behind the scenes: the poker game, what he said 20 years ago, whatever. It needs to be played on screen for it to have any kind of impact.
Uneventful and unmemorable.

IDK the scene where Ashton Kutcher's character confesses his love and Reese's character's response is "well you could have said something, we talk everyday" was pretty funny.

I agree - there were some bits here and there. But you cant build chemistry when the two main characters live in separate cities. It's all based on 'remember when we did this and that 20 years ago?' and we, the audience, dont remember because we havent seen it.
It's like me saying 'oh, I love Bruce Wayne and we had the most amazing love story'. Thats not engaging because its in the past. It wouldve been engaging if they filmed the whole poker game, the whole story, their chemistry, the break up, and so on. If they did that, then maybe they wouldve had something to go on 20 years later.
