I found this movie to be rather enjoyable, definitely not memorable, but I don't regret watching it on Amazon Prime. The film did NOT need the YouTube like bookends, as it really added nothing interesting to the story and didn't seem to fit the mood of the film.

Personally I think the movie could have made a bold decision and ditch the paranormal climax and focus on the town's people just offing the filmmakers because they were kind of a group of jerks anyways. None of the three really had redeeming values, even the more rational bald guy.

Acting was better than most of the low budget horror films I have seen, but only with the main cast. The supporting cast, were not good. The dialogue was difficult to hear in many moments in the beginning of the film. Having the female lead in a leg cast was a weird choice as it never added to to the story and she seemed quite capable for a MCL injury.

But even with the flaws, I found the film enjoyable for what it is.

I saw this movie tonight. I enjoyed it. Your points are valid - I didn’t see any reason for the frame narrative, with the YouTube guy. Once the main characters get offed are the end, seeing the YouTube guy sorta lightened the mood and took away some of the horror. The girl’s injury was indeed an odd choice, as this handicap lead to nothing in the movie.

I disagree that main characters didn’t have redeeming qualities. They weren’t good people, but the film showed that they were good friends with each other, which helped endear them to the viewer.

One weak supporting character is the uncle, whom they visit at his house. His acting and appearance just didn’t work for me. I did like the tarot lady, who was kinda sexy in an odd way.
