Is this a 'chick flick'? POSSIBLE SPOILERS

POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD

I never really know what a 'chick flick' is, but this film might qualify. I have a hunch that women might find this more appealing than men.

I wish I could join in the great amount of praise it has received. I found it heavy-going, ponderous and often annoying, and it seemed to take forever to get started. As a character study, I guess it worked. The symbol of the water seemed to work. But I just couldn't buy that ending at all. It seemed to be tacked on to wring as much as possible from the great god tragedy. I think it would have been more effective without it, if the two protagonists were left in some kind of limbo. That would have better satisfied the god of tragedy. Anyway, the acting was very good.
