Great Performance by Adrianne Palicki

Hot as hell and superb acting, great comic timing. She stole the show!

reply

Totally agree... She was very funny. Especially the scene after the credits.

"Nobody thinks it can happen to them... You too can get a PhD... Please, get tested... Thank you."

reply

Why don't you quote all the other funny lines too? And while you're at it, an outline of the script might be helpful. It would certainly save all that time sitting and watching the film.

Idiot.

You tell me. You seem to be following me around like a little doggy, so you'd probably have some insight.

reply

I think the idiot in this case is the guy reading a chat board about a movie he did not see.

If your looking for spoilerless insight about a movie just read the reviews.
Reading the boards is handing down the stick to get beaten with.

I agree with the OP Adrianne Palicki were great in this. I wish she gets more interesting (or at least from better productions) parts out of this movie. Because I sure would like to see her again.

Maybe I've been blinded by the clichéness of the other characters but I found that both the writing and the performance of Adrianne Palicki gave the blond bimbo stereotype a somehow fresh and exotic twist.

And since when a movie with Carla Gugino, Adrianne Palicki and Emmanuelle Chriqui would not worth sitting through it?

reply

First, I have seen the film. I was commenting on the clown who quite unnecessarily gave details of what happened after the credits rolled.

The OP likes AP and so do you, and that's fine. But it was thoughtless behaviour to start quoting lines from the film.

This whole habit of the studios down to the average viewer, of giving things away is intensely irritating. Only small chldren and morons need to be led by the hand like this.

I've seen a lot of people agreeing that trailers increasingly give away the entire plot for reasons unknown to me. It should be perfectly possible to read these boards and avoid anything covered by a 'spoiler' notice if you haven't seen the film. Anything else is written by and for those people who read the last page of a novel first.

reply

IMDb message boards are a whole different kettle of fish from movie trailers. A trailer's raison d'etre is to entice people who've not seen the film, so it's understandably frustrating when it spoils the same film it's advertising. But IMDb boards, by established practice, are a place for moviegoers to discuss films they've seen. If you make the mistake more than once of perusing the board before seeing the film, then you have no cause for complaint.

And the offence which you deemed idiotic, quoting one punchline from a film full of comedic moments, is so innocuous as to be laughable.

reply

You forgot, or in your self-righteousness didn't bother, to add one thing: In my opinion. You'll find as many people on these boards agreeing with me as not.

"He who talks loud, saying nothing." Says it all, really. All I'm asking for is a basic courtesy, but that's a commodity in short supply here. How much effort does it take to put a comment under a spoiler notice?

There are many reasons for people to check out a board before they see a film, and one of the is the unreliability of trailers. More and more I see people complaining that the film they saw had a different focus than they expected from the trailer.

It should be - and is - usually possible to discuss films without going into chapter and verse about specifics. But if people want to do that then, as I said, it's a basic courtesy to warn them in advance.

Or perhaps the concept of courtesy is alien to you?

reply

You complain about trailers giving too much away but then say you should be able to come to these boards to find out more about a film than can be gleaned from the trailer?

Your contention is that you should be able to come to these boards "to discuss films without going into chapter and verse about specifics," and thus you call someone an idiot merely for quoting one line from a throwaway scene after the credits?

After calling someone an idiot you wonder if I'm the one who doesn't understand the concept of courtesy?

I'm afraid your logic doesn't stand scrutiny.

reply

The person to whom my comment was addressed (who wasn't, remember, yourself) is an idiot for his behaviour.

You want an example of neutral comment? Check out the topic title. And then see what it descended to.

I've had it with you; an idiot who is a defender of other idiots gets the brown raspberry from me. Just run along and play with your other rude chums because I've had enough of you.

reply

After sampling the posts in your comment history I find it quite ironic that you should call anyone rude, given your apparent penchant for insults, personal attacks, and unconstrained umbrage. So if you, who seems to thrive on online conflict, have had enough of me I can only conclude that you realize your bluster is no match against cold reason. And please don't retreat behind the specious argument that your comment was not addressed to me. Your original comment was an attack on someone whose comment was addressed to the OP, not to you.

Your behaviour on these boards is evocative of people who seek to feel good about themselves by belittling others. You would be better served by seeking your self-esteem from within, instead. Self-awareness can build maturity and a sense of self-worth. This is not an attack, it's meant to be helpful (albeit unsolicited) advice from someone who's been there. Do with it what you will.

reply

Hey, hogfart-1,

on this movie's IMDB page, in the "did you know" section, there is an area for "quotes", which shows one quote from the movie, and then a link to see more, and when I came on to here, that quote was RIGHT ON THE MAIN PAGE, so anyone coming to look here would have seen it...

reply

Your first post, I see. Something tells me that with your attitude you won't be be around for too many more.

reply

I agree. Special award to her and Cameron Richardson for their scene and managing to keep a straight face. Damn.

reply

Haha, yeah, she was pretty good. Haven't seen so much of her before(only Legion) but she had great comedic timing in this, and was great at the serious part as well(her little confession to the canadian chick was bizarre, hilarious and moving at same time).

"Love keeps her in the air when she oughta fall down. Makes her home."

reply

She was pretty cool, she looks like a cross between Katherine Heigl and Jenna Elfman in this film. +1

Look at the night sky, where does it end?

I think step over this hostility spew and just stick to the original subject... Adrianne.

I originally saw her on the short-lived (and rather silly) show "South Beach" and always thought she was really stunning but lacking in the talent department (as is more often than not the case in Hollywood and very much so with her SB costar Yustman). I'll admit I was very wrong though. She deserved the big role she got in this film and did an excellent job.

reply

indeed, she was awesome.that immortal whore part had me laughing so hard :P

reply

Agreed, she was by far the best part of this.

@bogwart-1
Take your "I refuse to let you talk about anything" attitude & shove it up dissident-dog's ass.

IF I want your opinion, I'll GIVE it to you.

Yeah, what a primitive dork. He should stay away from these boards. But he prolly just found a playground for his troll within. Or he's jealous that the rest of us is born, instead of being *beep* into existence by an ugly mother alien...

Got distracted. Adrienne was superb in this role!

Peace. :)

reply

I agree. I thought Adrian Palicki was very funny as the dumb blonde. And that one story (anyone who's seen it know what I mean) that she relayed was something else. I have to give the actress credit for being willing and able to do that part.
