Who Killed Joe?

Who shot Joe as he was coming out of the house? FBI was told to hold fire and it wasn't Victoria.

reply

My Opinion: It was Frank!!! When they were reminiscing back in the house, they talked about a diversion and Joe knew someone had to be the sacrifice. Joe agreed he would go and then they said their farewells and then Frank shot him as Joe walked outside to confuse the bad guys so they could get away (Frank is seen escaping with a gun in his hand)! In this way, Joe died in a noble manner & finally rid his cancer and the rest had a chance to escape.

reply

Yes, obviously it was Frank. He did his old friend Joe a favor by taking him out quick, not slow with cancer. "Wouldn't have it any other way." Likewise Joe's death provided the distraction needed to allow Frank and Marvin to escape in the confusion.

reply

I would think "doing a favor" with a fire arm, quickly & painlessly for an "old friend" would necessitate nothing less than a head shot.

Being shot in the chest, the brain is still functioning, aware of pain and awaiting oxygen deprivation/blood loss to bring unconsciousness and ultimately death.

This film is not that serious, thus, ultimately it probably doesn't matter though.

While we are never actually sure if Joe is dead, who knows with this kind of movie, he appears to have been shot by one of the FBI folks who were under orders to hold their fire.

This is where we really see William begin to doubt if the side he is fighting for is the right side.

It was not Victoria. She was covering our heroes so they could escape.

Anyone know if Morgan signed on for Red 2? If so, the question might be answered!

Victoria had her sights trained on Cooper so did not shoot Joe. Believe me, I've watched it many times.

Joe was shot from someone in front of him, you can see the bullet hit him straight in the Chest. Victoria was to his right and aimed at Cooper. the FBI team was to his left.
If Frank would have shot Joe, the wound would have been bigger.
Short: not Victoria, not Cooper, no FBI. somebody else shot Joe.

I thought it was Victoria who killed him to distract the agents and give opportunity for the others to scape.

I think by entering a thread titled 'Who Killed Joe?' it'd be pretty obvious you can expect spoilers/answers to the question.

pretty sure it was victoria because she needed the distractiona nd from the way freeman was talking in the office, he knew it had to be done. they get the job done no matter what... they are friends, yes, but the job comes first. this can be seen when victoria gets shot and john malkovich just walks away without a hesitation.

...Awkward moment when you realize you've just talked about Fight Club...

reply

It was not Victoria. Watch it again - and again.

I think the reason they put that scene in where malkovich walks away after she is wounded is because they wanted you to know that they just do the job.

Who do you think it was?

The FBI and whoever else was outside didn't know it was Joe, they all thought it was Frank, considering the whole main storyline of this film is kicked off by someone sending a hit squad to attack Franks house, it is pretty easy to assume that the same people would have a sniper in place to take him out once the FBI find out where he's going and scramble their guys to bring him in.

It wasn't Victoria because she was at a different angle and aiming at someone else.

Joe is dead, he and Frank knew that if they went outside they would get shot, he had stage 4 cancer so didn't have much time left anyway so he made the sacrifice for his friend to act as a distraction (and possibly so he goes quickly rather than slowly via cancer).

As for the whole "Victoria shoot Ivan and he lived so Joe might live too" thing

There's a major difference between small caliber handgun rounds over large caliber rifle rounds.

There's also about 30 years difference between when Ivan got shot and Joes age in this film.

Obviously it was a sleeper. If following the trent of all spy movies, and perhaps same as it happens with real life spys, always have a back-up plan.
Seeing that William Cooper bollocksed it up twice, getting trapped with plain cops, getting his ass kicked in no less then the official CIA building they placed a sleeper in Coopers outfit when they went for that meeting. He stepped in when things turned in favor of Moses. Cooper wasnt supposed to let Moses live, he had to die, plan A didnt work, out comes plan B but Joe got shot instead failing plan B aswell.
Doesnt matter who it was, its the why and makes perfect sense.

If you don't like spoilers, then don't read a blog about who shot Joe and you won't have a spoiler

reply

First it's not a blog. Second the TITLE is a spoiler. Do you not see that. I came to see if this movie is worth checking out and all I know more since is that the character Joe gets killed and that's enough for me to find another film where I don't know what's gonna happen.

Man your post is so dumb is makes me sad.

First, I don't do face book, twitter, my space or blog. I am sorry I don't know what a blog is, I have heard of it though.

Second, if you want to read a review you can click on the down arrow, one click at a time so you don't to fast to get to where the review is and stop when Review this title | See all 286 user reviews ยป (as of this post)is at the bottom of the screen and you won't see the "message board Recent Posts" and any spoilers. Joe was not the main character in this movie and good guys die in movies, just not the MAIN CHARACTERS. Just because Morgan Freeman is in a movie does not mean he is the main character in that particular movie.

Man your post is so dumb is makes me sad ----- You said "Second the TITLE is a spoiler. Do you not see that. I came to see if this movie is worth checking out and all I know more since is that the character Joe gets killed and that's enough for me to find another film where I don't know what's gonna happen." so why did you read the message board about "Who Killed Joe?". My first post for Who Killed Joe? on here is on page 4 as is your first post. IMO your post is dumb for that the above mentioned reason.

"It means that I, like God, do not play with dice and do not believe in coincidence"------- I saw an episode of Dragnet where an undercover cop was arrested for a robbery. He was parked around the corner from the store that got robbed. The store owner came in and positively identified him as the robber. He said he was getting something from out of the trunk or something like that and it must be a case of mistaken identity. While he was being interigated, there was another robbery. They caught the guy and Officer Bill Gannon said it looks just like the cop. Is that not a coincidence
