I'm comfused about ending

I don't understand Bo died final showndown or not? After last battle the first restaurant and graveyard scenes showed again.I don't understand that scenes which time period because if really begining why he's left the bag? He didn't kill target yet.If he left the bag after final battle why his jacket and pendant wasn't damaged? Maybe He left the bag before final battle but I think graveyard wasn't in island and He didn't left the island. Please someone explain me. :S

He didn't die in the end. He left the head on the grave stone after the battle. It flashes back to show that scene at the start of the film in the cafe then back to present time in the same cafe but Jacky is not there. Probably teaching bowling somewhere!

reply

yeah man. He killed Chairman Ma because that villain kidnapped the nurse girl who saved his life once. He avenged her death and that is what takes place the whole movie. a quest for revenge.

reply

Jamasian_man thank you so much for explaining that. I couldn't figure out or understand what the nurse's connection was to Bo. I rewound and watched that news report type scene 3 times and I never understood it. When or where did it mention that the nurse saved his life?

Anyway, thanks.

I have a slightly different take. I think he really did die at the end. The scene where he placed the head at the tombstone happened after he had returned to the mainland and before the final showdown.

So the chronology would be
kill chairman Ma,
get off island
place bag on tombstone, pay respects
get call letting him know that girl was captured by bad guys
appear for showdown
die.
girl does her exposition.

I agree with " wongmark"take too.
But there's a few things I still don't understand.
I watched the USA release ,I always watch foreign movies with original language with subtitles.unless they been hacked with english voice over.blah

Things I still don't understand

Bo (Wu Jing) is eating at a cafe at the beginning of the movie and we see
Hiu Wor (Celina Jade)paying for her meal and chating with owner.
Now this takes place on mainland Hong Kong while Hiu the policewoman lives on
A rural Hong Kong Island.

Than latter on we see Hiu Wor (Celina Jade) at the same cafe ordering food and talking about Bo with the owner, while looking back at the table he was sitting
at while he was alive.
This makes no sense to me,unless they cut something out.

Also I wasn't sure if Bo killed many times before.
We know he is a professional assassin.
A few tips
1- The restaurant owner walks by and gives him a bowling ball bag. He asks her if god would ever forgive them for what they've done. She tells him that it depends on how he look at things.
Also he has been away for awhile on another so call vacation.
So are they family or part of a big organization that assassinate criminals.

2-While taking a shower at the police station we see alot of old battle scars on his back..etc.

3-movie title "Legendary Assassin"
Suggests he very good at killing and has been doing it for awhile.

And him killing the killer(Chairman Ma) of the Audrey White
was for Audrey White saving his life maybe from almost fata wounds from another
assassination.

You seem to be assuming that she never visits the mainland.

He was always wearing a military jacket, maybe the scars are from military service.

Or it was just a random title by the studio because they thought it would sell more tickets.

I agree with wongmark...

Although I found it a bit confusing as well... And didn't understand the need to repeat the old 'you're gonna be so skinny you'll fly away in the wind' scene at all, that was just overkill

I'm chill. I'm chill as a cucumber, man.
