I'm a sucker for the Private Eye type movies from back in the day. Crooked politicians, cheating wives, subways and taxi cabs etc...
I watched this tonight with a bowl of popcorn and passed a bit of time. Was fun!
I gave it a 7.
A pretty decent movie.
I thought it was a good story with a good cast (several personal favourites plus new to me Alona Tal) and yet it didn't really work. Perhaps I'm too locked in to the 1940s-50s, post WW2 cast, sharp moody B&W films.
Maybe modern actors/writers/directors are too complicated to simply deliver the story. It takes years to deliver a film these days which is a lot of time to build motivation and insight which then has to be delivered. Maybe the production lines of the old Studios produced simpler stronger films. As Bogart, or was it Tracey, said, just hit the mark and speak the lines - simple really.
