C-section changed to natural birth

They didn't really explain (I don't think), how the C-section got converted to a natural birth. Did they not think she would go into labor normally? Why didn't they just say that she was being induced on that certain date.

I'm not an OB/GYN, but "planned" C-sections on the 1st childbirth are usually due to some problem (like baby breached), that doesn't normally just "go away".
