Hopefully Stormare really did give Keanu acting lessons

he sure could use it!

reply

Keanu Reeves doesn't need acting lessons. He needs people who have usually never even seen his movies to stop making remarks that have no merit. Hasn't it gotten ridiculously monotonous to keep repeating the untruths about him. His fans know what he is capable of , just as in life his acting is refined and structured. He has complete control and can say more with his body language and expressions than most actors I've ever seen. With all the bad actors that get a free pass out there today it's amazing that you still have the diehards out there bashing Keanu Reeves. Jealousy and envy , nothing more.

reply

You took the words out of my mouth, celestialmotion. Some people just like to spew out such ignorant and insulting trash about him and his acting. It's extremely tiring and ridiculous. They say the kind of crap like he's "robotic", "stiff", or "unemotional" in his movies when there are much worse actors than him. At least Keanu does his best and works very hard to pull of certain characters his movies, whether they're blockbusters, independants, or regular-type films. Either way, he does a great job. I love that his filmography is very diverse and unique. He's always trying something new, something different, and something that suits his interests. He may not be the best actor in the world but he's a very solid actor.

reply

Have you noticed it's almost always guys? Jealousy. Another thing about Keanu Reeves is that he can act an entire scene without even talking and there are very few actors who can do that. It's become a habit for people to trash him and what's funny is the fact that these people no one has ever heard of or ever will try to draw attention to themselves by doing it. I really don't have time to visit the sites of people I like I'm certainly not going to waste any on people I don't. Wouldn't it be nice if others didn't have the time to just troll sites and make nasty remarks? You have to pity them though, I mean what a sad life.

We probably wouldn't worry about what people think of us if we could know how seldom they do.

reply

Amen to that!

reply

I never understood the keanu hate, I love alot f his movies he is entertaining, has some bad and great movies. however IMHO he has more great movies than bad lol.

reply

Absolutely, zipdraw. It's basically the "IN Thing" to hate on Keanu Reeves because of his supposed "bad acting" which is stupid. He may not be the best actor in the world but he's not the worst actor either! You know, I personally think that of all the actors ever in Hollywood, Keanu's filmography that's expands 25 plus years is by far the best. Some of them are bad but overall incredible. The majority of his movies as you said are entertaining. I can watch nearly any of his films, no matter what genres they are, old or new, and not get bored at all.

reply

Hey, celestialmotion. Yeah, I've noticed that most of them are guys. I believe that jealousy IS part of it. That is very funny that these people come out of nowhere and start trolling about him, and basically insulting us, the fans. I agree that we shouldn't waste our time on them and their nasty remarks about someone that doesn't deserve horrible criticisms. Keanu Reeves does have such a unique and amazing way of acting without even talking. You know how folks be saying that he's "unemotional"? In some of his movies that I've seen so far, he actually express emotions. Whether it be excitement, sadness, anger, confusion, etc., he pulls it off. Recently, I saw a scene from the movie Johnny Mnemonic on YouTube. It was the "I WANT ROOM SERVICE!!!" scene. Lol! Now, to me, it was kinda over the top and a bit funny, but it did have serious rage in it. And to be honest, his angry faces are pretty intimidating. The way he was looking at the other person in the scene was sort of scary. It's like he was gonna go off like timebomb or skin her alive. Yikes. But the point I'm trying to make is that he's really does show emotion and not many people can see that as well as can do that as you put it.

Yeah, we could care less about what the critics and other 'anti-Keanu' people think of us and such. All that matters is we really admire him and his work.

reply

Hey gljbradley ,It's great some of his fans have decided enough of this .
It's like that stupid "Sad Keanu crap." Only people who don't follow his work fell for that. He's actually a very happy and content person. But doesn't it say something that someone sitting on a bench eating lunch can stir up so much interest. Poor guy doesn't want all that publicity and certainly doesn't seek it out like some of the buffoons in Hollywood. eg Charlie Sheen. The people who interview him are the worst, instead of letting him tell them about the project he is working on they bring up all the old news that wasn't relevant to begin with. Did you see him on the View recently, could those women get any more lame? Most of them either try to come on to him or make light of his work. He's so easygoing and gave up fighting it a long time ago but that doesn't mean we his fans have to stand for it. btw you should try watching Feeling Minnesota if you haven't yet. It's one of my favorties.

We probably wouldn't worry about what people think of us if we could know how seldom they do.

reply

I don't feel jealousy towards him, even if he's light years handsomer than me. I happen to think he's average, and I'm glad he's not going to ruin Cowboy Bebop. But I'm surprised by the sway he still has over lots of movie fans. I can't appreciate him on the same level as you guys, but I'm jealous of you Keanu devotees, not of him. I wish I could be part of that. So yeah, that's all.

reply

That's the thing about Keanu Reeves , you either get him or you don't. The reason his fans are so protective of him is the fact that people who admit to having never seen his movies will still insist on trashing him. We just wonder why?
I mean why bother , just go to the site of someone you like and say something nice instead.

We probably wouldn't worry about what people think of us if we could know how seldom they do.

reply

Beatle, I admire your post and it's okay that you don't feel the same way as we do. At least you don't act sarcastic and insulting towards the fanbase of Keanu or him like most people do. I think the reason he still has that sway over us is because there's something about him that's extremely unique and special. Don't really know what it is but he's catches our attention, even without saying anything. I personally think that out of all of the actors in Hollywood, before and after him, he truelly stands out.

Also, I love your name. You a fan of The Beatles? I am. LOVE their music!

reply

@gljbradley : I'm glad that I checked this thread and read your post. There are lots of actors not as good as K. Reeves and I wish the attention would shift to them instead. About my name, yeah, I "got" it fairly recently and was surprised that it was available! Although I'm a Beatle fan, I'm not a fanatic per se, and I've amazingly deleted my 3 fave artists(Beatles, Nirvana, Radiohead) almost entirely from my Ipod, because I've been listening to them non stop for 10 years, and enough was enough.

PS - I think my opinion of K Reeves is a facsimile of my view regarding Ringo. Sorry about that if you do love the latter as well!

Reeves, always had a kind of charisma, that is his strongest point.
He has been good in some movies, but was never spectacular in more complex roles.

He is a movie-star and NOT the best actor in the world. I am a man and not jealous at all! I enjoyed him in some movies, but here it is obvious, that his skills are limited!

There are much, much more talented actors who will never make it. He is in the same league as Cruise, Travolta, that do not have to perform to enjoy them.

Watch some great European actors from France or England. I hated this movie, and enjoyed much more watching "little white lies" yesterday. It is also slow, certainly in the beginning, but with actors, who are not all stars, but renowned good actors, and every character is 100% believable!

Hello celestialmotion! Sorry for the late reply.
I've heard about the "Sad Keanu" crap, as well, and I'm plain sick of it. It just confuses me and upsets me because a paparazzo(singular for paparazzi) took a picture of him while he was alone, minding his own business, and eating lunch like most people would do in the daytime. That one photo causes so much frenzy is insane. Thank you for telling me that he's a happy and content person. I know that he's been through quite a lot in his life, yet he seems to not let it affect him and take over his life. I'd pray that he have a happy life. And you're right. The poor baby doesn't want all that publicity and he strictly values his privacy like a normal person. That's one of the reasons I admire him. He's not like all these celebrities like the one you mentioned, Charlie Sheen(pitiful moron), and many others. He has class and is very respectful.
I've seen him on The View. I enjoyed him and James Caan on there. They were hilarious! I recorded it on our DVR, and I watch it almost everyday. There was a part in the interview where Keanu was explaining to everyone how he traveled from Toronto to Los Angeles when he was about my age(20). He said that his manager and agent wanted to change his name, but he didn't(thankfully). Then, James asked him who gave him the name "Keanu", and he was like, "My parents! My family! That's my real name, man!" in a "Dude, are you kidding me?" voice. And everyone started laughing as James said, "Sorry!". But, yeah I agree. The women on there were kinda lame and asking some of these tiring questions. I couldn't believe that Sherry was the one that asked him about the "Sad Keanu" thing! When she brought it up, I was like, "Oh no. Here we go again with this crap." Yet Keanu seemed to handle it very well which is wonderful because he's a straight up CLASS ACT.

I really want to see some of his movies like Feeling Minnesota badly. It sounds and looks great. I've only seen like half of them. I've seen him in A Walk in the Clouds sometime ago and I LOVED it. The guy has such an incredible filmography!

The good-looking actors do tend to get their chops busted a lot. Tom Cruise, Ben Affleck, Charlie Sheen, Brad Pitt.

Brad Pitt is bloody good. Or, he was good in the Ocean's movies.

reply

Rock on, celestialmotion.

Alas, people are sheep and will follow the masses and jump on the trash-talk-bandwagon without giving the matter very much thought. Motivation will vary, but the tendency for the insipid to follow in the trail of their fellows will not. The seductive sensation of being a member of the mob cannot be resisted by the shallow.

One of the first movies I ever saw Keanu in was River's Edge. He was excellent in that and I've enjoyed watching his movies ever since. He's not identical in Love Me to Death as he was in River's Edge or Street Kings, for example, so it's a stupid argument that he's exactly the same in all his roles.

For most guys who bash him, I'm sure it's jealousy, too. Look at the site of any good-looking guy who can act and guys on there will say they can't or that they're one-dimensional. No actor strays terribly far in their range, except maybe character actors. Their roles may differ greatly but their personalities usually don't. For example, Jack Nicholson has always been considered one of our finest actors and even he doesn't have a totally different personality in his movies, whether comedy or drama. I'm not saying he's attractive (not to me), I'm pointing out that guys seem to think he's great, yet he's basically the same character in all his movies. That's pretty much the norm. If he were extremely attractive, guys likely would've bash him. Even Johnny Depp plays mostly the same over-the-top characters, just in different costumes. I think guys like Depp because he disguises or covers his good looks in most of his movies.

Sorry to be so long but I'm sick of the bashing of good-looking guys who can act, and the awful trend of casting ugly guys as 'leading men' with beautiful women that's going on in movies currently and getting worse!

I've already seen the worst movie ever made, so it can only be uphill from there.

reply

You guys are kinda nuts. I am more or less neutral towards him. I think he is ok. But you lot are way too emotionally invested in a stranger.

reply

I have to agree with the other people here, and say that I don't understand why there is so much Keanu hate going on. I have a lot of friends who always criticize him, saying that he doesn't convey any emotion and the acting is very boring. I've always been really confused, because I've never seen that; I always thought that what ever role he was playing at that time, he did it extremely well.

I'd go so far as to say that in all the movies that I've seen Keanu in, I couldn't possibly imagine another actor playing that role. For example, yesterday I caught A Scanner Darkly on Starz, and although I had seen the movie at least 30 times already, I couldn't stop watching. It wasn't so much for the story, I already knew the story, but it was the characters, and Keanu played a huge part in that.

reply

I like his acting. I like that he usually plays the same monotone character in almost all his recent films.

I think it works well for him. And I hope he doesn't change. I hope his choices of films he act's in doesn't change.

And I hope he continues to be under rated as an actor, because that is also what makes him so great in my mind.

Keep up with the Keanu hating/bashing. It just separates him from the rest of the crap big name actors even more.

And that, is where he deserves to be.

What Kind Of Supreme Being Condones Such Irony?

he's a successful and a good actor. and what have you achieved?

i found his acting in this move remined me of johnny newmonic....Bland....robotic & monitone. wish he would just show more EMOTION!!!

reply

Gordonator LOL Ditto!
Keanu Reeves is so uncharismatic - it's incredible.
But I think he fit well for this particular role, of nonchalance, melancholia, lethargic good for nothing "doormat" idiot.

reply

Probably a little late for a retort here, but I want to say that I do have basis for my insult. And mind you it just that, a jab, not an attack on the fans, however you seem to taken it as such, including one person here calling me "sad". I was a fan of Keanu, I grew up on movies like Speed, Devil's Advocate and The Matrix. However I couldn't ignore what his critics had to say and I began to realize he is a very one dimensional actor. It does work in some movies; I think he was perfect for Devil's Advocate, however movies like A Scanner Darkly or The Lake House expose a serious lack of depth. I see Stormare as a very talented actor afforded a lot less opportunity than Keanu, this was my inspiration for the joke.

reply

He did a great job in Devil's Advocate, Scanner and superb in The Matrix films. I thought this film was awful. It made no sense...I didn't think the story made any sense at all. I think this is the worst film Keanu has ever made. I know, it's just an opinion and everybody has one...

reply

This may not be his best movie but definitely not the worst, imo if you're looking for a bad movie in his filmography, you should see 'The Watcher', the whole movie is a farce and although it is not Keanu's fault, becoz the whole cast sucks, I wish he never did agree on playing the serial killer part, guess that's what happens when you choose friendship over a good script, that Charbanic guy sure screwed Keanu on that movie...

At least Henry's Crime has a romantic ending and funny scenes, although it doesn't work as a heist movie over all

reply

Watch him in Much Ado About Nothing. In a cast of talent he is the only one who seems as if Shakespeare is his native language.
