Question About Scene in Movie

I thought this was a great film overall, but a question I've always had is at the end of the movie when Degroat is on his back and Bale's charachter is pointing the gun at him, Degroat holds up his fists. Did this mean that Degroat wanted to fight him? And if he did, why did Bale shoot him instead? Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Watch again if you can. Degroat had F@#K tattooed on the side of his right palm and YOU tattooed on the side of his left palm. When holding up his fists he is sending that message.

He killed sixteen Czechoslovakians. Guy was an interior decorator.

Wow thanks, I never noticed that. I always thought this meant he wanted to fight Bale. It's amazing that suttle things you miss other people are able to see. Guess I'll have to watch it again.

I never noticed that either. I still think he wanted to fight him. He would have kicked Bale's ass, so Bale made the right call.

Of course DeGroat would have preferred to fight Baze, mano a mano. Unfortunately for DeGroat he was on the ground staring up at the business end of a deer rifle.

It was when he asked 'do you know who I am' so I thought he put his hands up to say that he k ew he was there to take vengeance for the fighter, maybe not knowing it was his brother as this is mentioned later on.
Probably wrong as I didn't realise he had anything written on his hands.

I also thought he was signaling that he knew he was the fighters brother.. The tatoos on his hands escaped me..good catch
