You know what is wrong with new horror

After watching this trailer I realized now more than ever what is wrong with new horror movies. It's the clearity of the image, with all this new techknowledgey and great picture quality something has been lost in translation from the story to the eyes. Older horror movies feel scary because their is a warmth to the picture, todays movies are clear and cold, older movies had more shadow and lesss detail which aided in the scare factor. I wish all movies were shot on the same type of film that was used around 1975 - 1985.

The only reason to take a high quality modern digital image and make it grainy is to disguise a lack of talent. Look at horror classics by Argento, Romero, Fulci, Carpenter, those guys never resorted to such gimmicks, use new technology to make better movies, not lame ass throwbacks to 80s SOV crapfests.

Ordinarily I would scoff at the usual grandiose statement like the one you used, but as others have said, you seem to have a pretty good point.

I rewatched the original 'The Fog'. The opening, which lacked any dialogue for the first 5 minutes or so, set the mood than any other horror movie I've seen in quite a while.
