Why So Gorey?

I found this surprisingly watchable. Great corny lines, interesting bad guys, lots of silly action... I don't need the nail going through the dude's jaw and other similar instances... I especially enjoyed the part where Santa "had to look" at the bad guy who can't find the grenade... probably could have discarded at least 20 minutes, it got tedious.
