Would the ending had been a little better

If that flash forward with the truck didn't exist?

I love it as is. It shows Merlins devotion, belief and patience thousands of years later and I find it incredibly touching.

I did too, because and or to me, giving it the "modern world" look (as the show was a show very loosely, going its own way of looking at a legend/fairy tale) and even keeping with the modern world, Albion has not yet happened. There is still hope for a true and real world peace with human kind, with no war and understanding that as humans not all will agree or see things in the same way, it is just life. With knowing the human race is more the same than different, we all breathe, need clean water and healthy food to survive, we all pee and poop, bleed red. That underneath the "outer shell of what is seen" we all have the same "look". We all have hurts and pain, feelings and expressions, and those same expressions also look remarkably the same for happiness, sadness, joy, love, hurt, pain, even deceptions and so much more...Human love is a wonderful complex thing, will choose to embrace.

I may be strange as when introduced to someone, eyes are what I notice, and can tell much about them as a person by looking at their eyes while we are talking, much more too could add but would then get to much, (also when see and or meet close enough to see their eyes). Though apparently have good description recall, so do and can see the "outer shell" and was fair/right with a situation that sadly was some racist undertone, as was the "white" person...took some sort of class on request of, where different things were set up for several situations, called all correct, told was a rare thing I could do because I did not see "race", personally, never have seen "shells" for making friends, nor do I judge because of "looks" religion or none. Weirdly, all my life, have also when asking if someone is seeing/dating/married have asked what is their name, and only became aware of that when "Joe" said his name is Steve, because of town lived in, he had never told anyone before me that Steve was anything more than his "best friend", was popular and "ladies man" and from a "good family", broke down in tears when I just asked how long they had been seeing one another, (late 80s)...his "family" as far as they are concerned, he s been "dead" to them since 92 or 93, (he was 4 and a bit yrs older than me), had talked to him a bit before hand and knew his "family", never cared for them, but they also judged me, was a teen mom, and think if they could have would have removed him from being born into "their perfect,(gag, vomit) little family, of 9 children. Ran into him about 4 weeks before he and his husband moved to Paris apx a week before the terrorist attack, I have tried all ways to find out that can think of, as do not know his new last name or his first as he was going by his middle name, he changed it to his husbands name, his "family" may actually be telling truth now about his being dead...

Sorry, got off topic of Merlin, but typing this anyway, as pretty sure he would recon the "name" have here and my words, with the who knows, he might see this...

Nah, it ends the series on a brighter note. Merlin is still waiting for Arthur, true, but he's living his life and just staying in the general area to be ready when Arthur comes back. He's clearly immortal or extending his life somehow, so he will be there when Arthur comes back. It is Merlin's destiny to serve Arthur, and that destiny is not yet complete.

So the audience is left with the assurance that Merlin and Arthur will meet again and unite the land. We see Merlin give an impatient little sigh, but then he moves on. He's not moping around, but he's staying nearby, still loyal and devoted. And he will see Arthur again.

I loved it. And I needed it after seeing Arthur die in Merlin's arms.

Well said. The once and future king legend truly saved the ending. It gives it a hopeful feeling.

I've just watched it and it was so heartbreaking but the end with the lorry definitely gave me hope. Did Merlin return to Camelot? I hope so.
