6/10? seriously?

i thought i wasn't just weak. it was borderline abomination.
awful, pedestrian moviemaking.
don't get me wrong - old guard worked. hannibal guy - ok.
but then there's shia - wow, where do i start?! - lAbeouf... i'll let it slide re:balls, re:paper bag.
Fredrik Bond ('director') - no more movies for you pal. please.

4/10. constant urge to ff or go somewhere thruout.

top taste, mate (sarcasm)

This movie is, to my knowledge, Shia's best performance so far -- his acting during the scene on the plane where he talks to Gabi's deceased dad was SPECTACULAR.

reply

Shia really was terrific in this film. Lawless, The Company you Keep, and now this are all above average performances.

I am you and what I see is me.

No offence. But you're gay, right?
Just trying to understand...

I was going to say something here, then I realized, I'm wasting my time with this garbage thread (OP).

reply

Solid casting, acting, script, directing, music and camera work. If this is the OP's "borderline abomination" then the bar is very, very high, indeed.

I watch 5-7 movies a week, every week (via Netflix), from little indies to Hollywood popcorn blockbusters, and the quality of this film was way, way above average.

8/10

I gave it a 6 seriously. There were enough parts of it to grant it that. Mikkelsen's character was ok, as well as the tripping scene at the hostel. And I've liked the funny hat, the constant confusion between Bucharest and Budapest, and the scene where Charlie pays for (mis-)directions and gets cheated by a street urchin, when looking for the hostel (that scene, not the rampant armed thugs, characterizes best Romanian society: after the fall of the communist dictatorship and the subsequent atomization of society, there arose here a cult of dishonesty, of the smart guy, the one who manages to make money by cheating the other). Even Wood was decent for her part. A pity she didn't kill Charlie at the end (I've just recently watched Of mice and men). Also, Mikkelsen's death seemed gratuitous, out of character. The story in general was a mess, and the resulting movie totally forgettable.

I'd give it a 7.5

I'm with you. Shia was so irritating in this. They could have given him ONE testicle, I mean what a wuss!! Mads was great as always but the story was pretty weak and the ending was lame.
