A lot better than Invention of Lying

Cemetery Junction has received mixed reviews, but it's a lot better than Gervais' last film. It's a different type of story - the strong point of the film is the drama rather than the humour. Not the best film of the year, but enjoyable all the same. Review here: http://iheartthetalkies.wordpress.com/2010/04/24/film-review-cemetery- junction/

i saw a dog sniff a lamppost today and it was a lot better than invention of lying.

I agree. Invention of Lying was rubbish. Hollywood fluff.

This was far better.

This was English fluff. Makes Hollywood fluff look like napalm. What an awful film!

That's because Invention of Lying (and ghost Town) didn't have Rick & Steve behind the camera.

Yes but it did have gervais behind the camera and is so far a thorn in his otherwise successful career. I think rick and steve should concentrate on low budget series. Their style is not suited to the mainstream which I hope they will realise.

The Invention of Lying was one of the worst films of the past year and IMO wasn't panned nearly enough. So saying this is better is encouraging but not exactly a grand endorsement, i mean how could it possibly be worse?!

I totally love The Invention Of Lying...

There is always one like that at the party...

I think addison is lying.....

:)
but i'm not, in fact it was on my personal Top 10 of 2009.
I don't believe in God, so i found the movie very funny.

Invention Of Lying was 50X better than this rubbish.

I still enjoyed this, but it was a mostly depressing film. The entertainment value decreased and decreased until we got to our "happy" ending. I've seen this movie a million times before, and it's called "life sucks". At least The Invention Of Lying was fresh, unique, and funny!

You can't say Cemetery Junction is rubbish. I think it mixed up a small amount of slapstick humour with a touch of drama and coming-of-age story. Invention of Lying just happens to be an original story plot which I think no one has touched before.

I think The Invention of Lying was a film with a tremendous premise that went unfulfilled while Cemetery Junction had a completely run of the mill premise that was reasonably fulfilled but was in no way exceptional - competent acting, good music, nice camerawork, but ultimately run of the mill storytelling. Personally, I will soon forget Cemetery Junction in a blur of hundreds of other coming-of-age movies, but I will remember the premise of The Invention of Lying for a long time.

how can you compare these two absolutely different movies you moron?

I liked this, but enjoyed The Invention of Lying even more.
