The Bathroom

Are there really no doors in the stalls of mens bathrooms? Wouldn't you think they would have them especially in middle school?

reply

Oh yeah, I thought that was really weird! I think every school I've been to has had them except in pre-school level. We don't have middle school here in Australia but I think it's around Year 6 or 7 in which case it's crazy not to have doors. I know my schools had them for boys too.

My high school did not have any doors in the men's bathrooms.
Yep, it was as awesome as it sounds.

He did not say it was awesome. He said it was "as awesome as it sounds." It sounds horrible, therefore, he said it was horrible.

Our grade school had no doors in the bathrooms. You learned to hold it, or sneak in after getting a hall pass.

In the boys bathroom we had about a dozen toilets that hardly ever got used.

I came here to ask the same thing!

As a male, I never took one dump in school (many, many years of holding it in) because:

While all the stalls had doors, the main door to the boys' bathroom was always left open, talk about a lack of privacy.

PS, the girls' main bathroom door was always closed.

There are 2 schools I went to where there were no doors on the stalls. There is a school in my district right now where there are no doors on the boy's stalls. They are mostly older schools. Our current middle school has no doors on the stalls but they have put up curtains on them, though they are not quite long enough.

My high school didn't even have stalls, just these low brick walls that your head poked up over. It was horrible.

However, it is weird that a school with actual stalls wouldn't have doors on them.

I can't remember what my junior high school ones were like.

i'm 30...so i haven't been in school since the early 2000's ....but only one school i went to had no doors on the stalls. This was my kindergarten thru 6 grade years. Now i only went to that school up to the 3rd grade(93) and that school was a catholic school. Much older building. I transfered to public school for my 4th grade and onwards... and every bathroom stall had doors on them. My opinion on the "no doors on bathroom stall" thing is Its probably on older buildings. Schools that were around in the 50's, 60's 70s' 80s, ect.

I'm very curious...
Why wouldn't there be doors? Is it that the school is worried about children getting into drugs or sexual acts or is it just a cost cutting thing?
Also on the subject, assuming that most comments here are people from predominantly Christian communities, isn't there any prohibition against seeing other people naked (as in kids in locker rooms or common shower if these things actually exist outside of movies)?
