This movie isn't bad. Its bloody depressing.

Jesus Christ.

The way some of the characters die or how no one gets a chance to say their goodbyes to loved ones or just...everything. All the death. It was too much man. Can you imagine if something like this were to happen in the world? It'd probably end up being the same way. Forget the stupid plot with the main characters and how they get to the ark. The stuff happening behind the scenes with the supporting characters is where it hits hard.

Love breeds sacrifice, which breeds hatred. Then you can know pain - Pain

Nobody's death in this movie hits hard. Oh, my estranged dad who I just re-connected with died right before my eyes. Yes little girl, I will share my puppy with you. What's that, you say, my second husband just got ground up in the gears of the ship? Well, time to make out with my ex-husband!

They even wasted poor Woody Harrelson!

Anyone here mentions Hotel California dies before the first line clears his lips.

It's a load of crap, seen this at the cinema what a waste of £9

Agree... and there was nearly three hours of it! A highly engaging film in many ways, though.

Special effects best part, otherwise the do goody ending and all brought it all down for me.

Glad I am not the only one who realized the depressing nature of the film. Great special effects, some good acting here and there, awful story-line here and there. But overall, an enjoyably action flick.

Do you think it would have been better to show very little death in an END OF THE WORLD scenario??

I'd say it's more like "fear" than "depression". My wife can watch tons of horror movies, but is deathly afraid of Disaster movies like this. All that destruction and death is truly horrifying to her and if 2012 happened for real?? You better believe it would be a horrifying experience! But depressing? I dunno....

My thoughts exactly, I'm watching this now only because it's on to ams nothing else to watch.
It's way over board and seriously depressing!!!
When the huge wave hits the monk /priest etc ringing the bell I was actually laying on my settee breathing heavily. It's just sooooooo bloody depressing. The graphics I.e. the world crumbling is good & worrying cos I've seen vids on YouTube of that actually happening, with land collapsing into the sea.

I don't watch this film ever as a rule. It makes me want to kill myself. Also very typical that the rich people get to "Buy" their sodding ticket onto the ark. So for the rest of us poor sods who can't afford it, I guess we are all left to die cos we can't pay our way so we deserve to die. Oh how lovely when the human race pull together to save each other, selfish bastards!!

They only sold enough tickets to get the necessary money. The rest of the passengers were chosen by geneticists, they said, and/or for what they could contribute in terms of skills and knowledge.
