Haven't read the book, so I can't compare the Angel in the book with Eddie.
But, for the movie, I think he was perfect. He looks young, sweet, innocent, naive really.
Someone who is ethereal--his name, Angel. Clare. Really? Can you get more ethereal than that? Not necessarily beautiful as in movie star looks, but oddly beautiful.
I personally find him quite good-looking, and hypnotizing and think of him as eye candy. With a whole lot of talent to back up the cuteness.
One of the things I love most about British film and tv is the fact you lads go for talent above all and then looks. Not every woman is gorgeous, not every man is handsome, there is a lot of in betweens. Your films and television show this, which is much more realistic to the insipid beautiful faces of most Hollywood actors/actresses of today.
