I've just finished watching and I agree - well made overall.
Please be aware that the most likely reason why many don't bother watching it is because of dopesick mini series, which came out 2 years earlier. According to all reviews, it is considered to be a superior series (covering more angles - and being better directed) that covers the exact same incident - I wish I was aware of it prior to watching painkiller. I find this topic to be so fascinating that I might still watch dopesick sometime in the near future.
Still - again, I think painkiller is really good -
The more films of this sort I see, however, the more depressing things appear - primarily because nothing is being done.
Yes, they paid a fine, but are still out and about. FDA is still super corrupt - and buying out or bribing FDA officials is still the norm, despite now everyone knowing fully well how the said corruption works. Fact is.... and this is truly eye opening, especially after the covid BS - every system which was supposed to keep corruption in check has been hijacked and corrupted as well.
