did anyone else's jaw fricken drop when...*spoiler-ish?*

...David and Katie were at Katie's parents house, and David comes in and grabs her by the hair and pulls her out of the house? My jaw fricken dropped. What I found most shocking was the fact that he did it in front of her FAMILY! You never see that happen. Her family's reactions were heartbreaking. Though it's really unrealistic that no one did anything to stop him.

Females deaths, other than disease/old age, are 90% at the hands of their loved-ones. And a quarter of all females in couples have experienced violence from their loved-one. Entering a monogamous relationship is one of the most dangerous decisions a female can take. And gay couples are not immune from these dominance related problems. It's just a fact of life that when one person thinks they own another, things will go bad.

***So I've seen 4 movies/wk in theatre for a 1/4 century, call me crazy?**

It did look shocking but at that time period it was probably more common and other family members did little to protest.

Its that man again!!

reply

The only thing the time period changes is HOW it was taken care of. Your brothers might take the offender out behind the barn, instead of calling up a government agency to take care of it.

Yes! I had to rewind it back. There is no way that scene would have played out in my family. He wouldn't make it to the door.

"I've lost people before, so when I care about someone I plant a tracking device on them."

My jaw dropped at the shower scene. When she's dressed you can't tell they're that big.

She had low self esteem and married him for money. He was unwell and I actually sympathized with his character (being fiction), because hearing the Carly Simon song set him off. He was possessive of her because he was insecure. He was needy because his mother committed suicide right in front of him as a young boy. He tried to save her. His father seemed abusive and controlling. He had no exit from his situation and did the best he could. His childhood shaped who he was. Gosling was an incredible actor in this and so was Kirsten Dunst. A+

well said Supercalafragulistic

I suspect that Robert Durst father did some pretty terrible things to her own wife which cause her to commit suicide, etc.

It happens all the time, especially back then.

I was only shocked her brother just stood there, dumbfounded. I would have gotten all irate and would have womped on that boy! Aw, Heck Gnaw! Oh no you Didn't!

Plus, the brother is almost twice the size of that little lunatic! (I can't get that image of his creepy smile in the orange jumpsuit in the back of the squad car that is in all the recent headlines)

You just know he was getting bored, and wanted more notoriety, subconsciously getting caught on purpose.

I feel even if those watching were afraid to DO anything, no one opened their mouths to SAY anything either. Very unbelievable.
