Dubbing versus subtitles.

I made my decision to not watch this movie purely because they dubbed over in English instead of just putting subtitles. In my opinion, dubbing really cheapens any movie, regardless of how good or how bad it is. It never sounds or looks authentic. I rather read subtitles and listen to the voices of the real actors even if I don't understand what they are saying.

I just watched this flick on NetFlix Streaming last night and it was the "dubbed" version. As far as I could tell, there was no option to watch a subtitled version so I just rolled with it.

Anyway, the English dubbing on this flick was absolutely atrocious! Haha. It took an already-weird movie to a whole 'nother level of odd. The dialogue was awkward and stilted and the voice "actors" sounded bored.

Watching it, I was reminded of the hilariously bad dubbing on most of the Italian horror movies made in the 70s and 80s. Could "Sint's" awful dubbing have been an intentional nod to those films?

When I bought the blu-ray, it started playing dubbed by default but gave me the option of turning the dubbing off and subtitles on. Like you, I much prefer it that way.

If it plays on TV in English speaking countries, maybe some networks only have access to the dubbed version.
