I made my decision to not watch this movie purely because they dubbed over in English instead of just putting subtitles. In my opinion, dubbing really cheapens any movie, regardless of how good or how bad it is. It never sounds or looks authentic. I rather read subtitles and listen to the voices of the real actors even if I don't understand what they are saying.

shareDubbing is for the lazy. Subtitled is the way to go. There's more to the world of languages than just English!. When a movie is dubbed it loses a lot of it's quality. The performances are not those of the actual stars on screen. It's from a completely different cast who are sitting/standing in a studio infront of a microphone reading the script in English. So when the subtitled version is watched, then the dubbed version afterwards, you are like "holy *beep* this is BAD so it is" because the dubbed voices do not ever give off the same emotions in their performances as the real stars in the movie. There is nothing good about dubbed movies. Nothing!.

Dubbing sucks balls. I'm glad to speak dutch and that TV stations and DVD companies in Belgium and The Netherlands don't bother with dubbing.
shareThe DVD contains english subtitles, spanish subtitles, and english overdubs. It defaults to english subtitles, but you can choose "setup" and change to overdubs if you choose (which I do not).
But, yes, subtitles are far better than overdubs. Overdubs make a mockery of the original audio. It always sounds like a bunch of cartoon voices making fun of the movie.
I don't think we have both options on the UK disc for dubbed or subtitled. It's just subtitled as far as I know. I can't check just now as I've given the movie to my dad along with other movied for him to watch over the Christmas period. All the movies I've given him (about 12 or so) they are nothing that Disney would approve of... so that's good :)
Here in the UK the only movie I have known to give us both features - the dubbed version AND the subtitled version on one disc - was the zombie movie "The Horde" and if you watch both versions then it really stands out just how BAD dubbing for a movie is. Subtitled wins everytime over dubbing!.

I rented it from Netflix (don't know if you're in the US), and the disk has English subtitles.

Just watched in on NF Instant Watch and the only option was the dubbed version.
If I'm watching a Kurosawa or and Ingmar Bergman movie I'll probably opt for subtitles. A cheesy horror movie like this? Give me dubbing. I prefer not bouncing from subtitles to the screen.

I was very annoyed that Netflix offered the dubbed version for streaming. It made it very hard to watch. Normally I'd have waited for a disc but it was Christmas and I wanted to watch it on Christmas.
