It's YOUR Dress!!!

Seriously ladies why do you care what others think of the dress? If you love it and it's "the one" then say yes to it. If others don't like my dress then I honestly don't give a crap. It's my dress and I'm the one wearing it. Part of the problem is some bring way too many people with them. If I owned a dress shop I would have a limit on how many can bring in an entourage. One bride had 12 people with her. Ridiculous. It just bothers the crap out of me that these brides will only get a dress if everyone likes it. IT'S YOUR DRESS!!!!!

Even if it is being paid for by someone else? Shouldn't that person (usually mom and/or dad) have a say in it? And what if it's inappropriate for the church. As a Catholic, I would expect a certain amount of modesty in a gown for the ceremony. I could imagine a priest telling a bride to cover up! And sometimes a person can't see herself as others see her and doesn't know how a gown actually makes her look.

nope. the person paying for it will set the budget but they don't have a say in which dress is picked. they aren't wearing it. if it needs sleeves or shoulders covered and she knows it, then the bride will get a separate bolero to wear on top and discard after the ceremony. loads of religious brides do that. again, their choice. if they are told off by the clergy, it is up to them

Sounds like your the type to dictate to the bride what dress she buys. My dad bought my dress and even told me to ignore everyone's opinions because my opinion was the only one that mattered. He said he would still buy it for me even if he didn'tlike it as long as it was within budget. My dress is strapless but it us modest. All that's showing are my shoulders and collar bone. No cleavage.

What gets me is the bride on this show will love a dress and even be crying because she loves it so much but she won't get it because ONE person doesn't like it. Jeez you idiot bride stop letting people dictate this crap!

The only thing worse are the brides who drag their family and friends along over and over and over. They all look beaten down and shell shocked...like they've given up hope. And why not??

I think the only person who should have any sort of input (besides the bride) is the person paying for it. And even then, they should have a say but allow the bride to choose whatever she wants.

Thats exactly what I think I only went shopping with my mum and she had no arguments about the dress I loved even though it was bright Orange. She went along with it and was happy as long as I was and I didnt care what anyone else thought because I loved it. These brides need to get a backbone and stand up for themselves and the entorages need to shut up and realise its not their dress.

The bride may not realize a dress she loves is not really flattering to her. I loved my oldest and youngest daughter's dresses, but I really didn't like the dress and veil my middle daughter wore. She loved it, and I kept my mouth shut. However, every time I look at her picture (and I have a number of wedding pictures of all three girls around the house), I wish someone had said something. The gown is really dated whereas her sisters' are classic. She's petite, and the big puffy sleeves and pouf at the back of her head overwhelmed her. I didn't like her bridesmaid dresses either, but it was her wedding, so i kept my mouth shut again. Her sisters, who wore them, didn't like them either but didn't say anything. We love her and wanted her to be happy. It was her wedding and it was the wedding she wanted.

Thank you OP! I'm saying that the entire time I'm watching the show. No matter what others think GET the dress YOU want because it will be YOUR day! I would never think to knock the bride's choices rudely and be demanding or controlling when she's shopping for her dress.

Exactly! I don't mind peoples opinions, but ultimately it's the bride's choice and how she feels in it. It irks me to no end when 1 person in a group of people doesn't like it and the bride feels obligated to discard it because of that 1 person.

I'm still glad I took the easy way and got married at the courthouse with only close family. Lol Almost 17 years later I still don't regret it.

I totally agree with you. When I shopped for my wedding dress, I only brought my mother with me. I didn't bring a lot of people because I know there were be too many conflicting opinions. My mom was completely supportive of any dress I wanted; that's the way it should be. The people on this show irritate me because it really shouldn't be up to them, it should be up to the bride because it's her dress and her wedding!!!!

"Part of the problem is some bring way too many people with them."

While that's entirely true, it's what makes this show so entertaining.
The interaction of relatives/friends and their comments (verbal and non-verbal). 😵‍💫

Here's a good example:
Uncle comes to the Rescue when Bride falls for Dress DOUBLE her Budget.

"Der Onkel wohnt dicht bei der Stadt.
Wohl dem, der so ein' Onkel hat."

(Hasenschule) 🐰

"The uncle lives close to the city.
Blessed is the one, who has an uncle like that."

(Bunny School...sorry, no rhyme in English anymore.) 🐰

Jokes aside, the bride really has a fantastic father and a great uncle.
But does it have to be $$4,900 for one wedding dress?! 💵 💵 💵 💵 💰💰💰💰💰💰💰💰💰
