I feel sorry for people who don't get this film

It deserves a much bigger rating than 5.7

I really didn't like it at first. And I wasn't a kid or inexperienced film-goer when I first saw it either. I even came on here and talked about why I didn't like it. The issue for me was the expectation I had going into it, since I assumed I knew what the film was supposed to be. I said I thought the Chevalier character was the strongest element of the film and should've been used more and on and on. The Chevalier character is great, but I had to realize that this wasn't my movie!

It was only after a second viewing, where I deliberately rejected any preconceived notions and kept my mind open, that I actually really enjoyed the film. I have since seen it many times and it has become a favorite. I accepted it for what it is, not what I wanted it to be.

Viewers aren't used to, or just don't like, approaches to film making that are loose and free-flowing. People expect stories, and the stories to make sense, and a plot that moves along logically. "Gentlemen Broncos" tells a story and has a plot, but it's not tight and logical. It's loose and whimsical. That's what I ended up loving about it.

I rated it a 7 here on IMDb. It's current rating of 5.7 or whatever is pretty unfair. But what can you do?

There's nothing to "get" about this movie, it's not like it's a complicated mystery or anything... It's a dry comedy, not everyone like those. Personally thought it was decent at best.
