blatant Lipton ice tea plugs

Almost as bad as that Being Erica webseries featuring that stupid car last season.

reply

Agreed! The TETLEY infusions product placement was SHAMELESS!

reply

I somehow completely missed it....I'll have to check the episode again :\

reply

well cbc does need funding, now that harper is trying to shut them down...

this was not a cvc show - it was ctv

reply

No, it was CBC.

reply

This comment didn't age well given that the CBC literally sued Harper's political party in the most recent election while pretending to stay neutral and objective. CBC should have been shut down decades ago.

Get used to it. With the prevalence of PVRs and downloading allowing people to skip tv commercials, I expect 'ad embedded plots' will become much more popular.

reply

And just longer shots of product placement.

reply

It's like a return to the 1930s radio soap operas, which I kind of love. Sure it's shameless, but it takes 30 seconds and that way Tetley is getting their money's worth even when people download the eps or PVR them like you said. Ford did the same thing last season on Being Erica and Vampire Diaries and I thought i was kind of genius. What would be amazing is if they could figure out a way to eliminate the ad breaks altogether with these embedded ads. I would take an hour long show with a handful of embedded ads any day over 2 minute long commercial breaks.

And don't forget the huge Ford gush when Julianne got her brand new car. Heck, Erica was driving it in this past Monday's episode.

Whatchoo Lookin' At??

reply

The car parallel parked itself in last night's episoode, just like in the commercial.

reply

Yes Julianne seems to have at least one an episode now. And of course sponsored by Ford. Last year the KA this year the Focus.

reply

You are aware that making a TV series isnĀ“t free, right? With so many people downloading episodes (me included), SOMEONE has to pay the bill.

reply

Canadian taxpayers paid for this show without their consent or consultation. CBC has access to virtually unlimited funds. Their programming does not need to be profitable or to get good ratings in order to exist. Everyone at the CBC gets paid even if nobody watches it.
