I remember that sort of visual trick being done once before on an old Warner Brothers Cartoon. I think it was a Bugs Bunny/Elmer Fudd cartoon, and I seem to remember that a sleazy type tv emcee had on a plaid jacket in which the pattern remained static. A pretty neat trick given that this was before computer generated imagery. Actually, I think it's a cool special effect, but can you imagine the time it would take to have patterns conform to movement and contours? More a timesaver using that effect I imagine.

I remember when I first watched it, I wasn't sure if I was imagining it or not so it was all I focused on, but I like it now I can take my eyes of it lol. It seems like a really good way of giving the character's clothes patterns and texture without having to worry about how difficult it would be to animate. If the patterns on the clothes were animated into the movement, you can bet they wouldn't look anywhere near as vibrant.

When I first watched the show I couldn't take my eyes off of the clothes. It was like it was hypnotizing me!!
