The 'I Can't BELIEVE They Didn't Mention...' Thread

Similar to the Official "Things They'll Probably Mention" thread, only difference is that these are things that you cannot believe they wouldn't mention in the first installment.

I can't believe there was no mention of America's Next Top Model, Degrassi (Could it be because its a Canadian based show? It was still a HUGE hit over here), the Harry Potter movies, The Mole, Britney and Madonna kiss at the VMAs, Justin Timberlake launch of his solo career, Family Guy (they could have mentioned how it was resurrected from cancellation twice), the VERY first Making the Band with O-Town, the entire boy band/bubblegum pop music craze, Invader Zim, Adult Swim, The Osbournes, Scary Move, The Amazing Race... and so on and so forth.

They have done a part two with every other decade so they will definitely mention some of the things in your post in part 2.

Yes, I am aware of that ... ^__^
However, the point of this topic is to point out the things we can't believe they didn't mention in the very first installment of it! I believe I stated that in the original post.

the entire boy band/bubblegum pop music craze

That was in the 90s; Britney Spears, N-Sync, 5ive, The Backstreet Boys.

I'm not sure whether or not you remember, but the whole boy band and bubblegum pop was still on going in the really 00s. In fact, there was a surge at one point of new boy bands and girl bands. Reality shows revolving around making all boy and girl groups were beginning to up everywhere. For instance, Making the Band (which I mentioned above) which started O-Town, and let us not forget Popstars which began Eden's Crush which first introduced people to Nicole Sherzinger.

Pop music was EXTREMELY prevalent in the early 00s, a lot of the groups and people you mentioned (with the exception of the Backstreet Boys) didn't see any major successes until the 00s. Let's not forget that it was in 2000 that Nysnc released "No Strings Attached," which was perhaps one of their bestselling albums ever.

Have they mentioned how much everyone text messages yet?

reply

I can't belive they didn't mention Mulholland Drive in 2001. That was DAvid Lynch's big comeback and it really "confused" everyone who watched it.

And no Harry Potter or LOTR mentioned yet?

(I missed half of the 2002 ep and all of 2003...was Harry Potter mentioned)?

Or Shrek in 2001?

reply

LOTR was talked about at the end of the 2003 segment, but not Harry Potter.

I was thinking the same exact thing! I don't remember that AT ALL, I mean I know they were trying to make fun of it for how miniscule of an issue it was, but honestly they could have filled that spot with something people really wanted see.

reply

I hope they do a part 2, because they missed a lot. I'm surprised they didn't mention more of the Osbournes & The Newlyweds.
They also missed Donnie Darko, Eminem in 8 Mile, Shrek, the Harry Potter films, Thirteen, and how could they not mention Kill Bill 1&2?

reply

They should also have a "rising gas price" list for each year (national average) to show how it keeps going up and up! Or would that be too depressing...

reply

Agree with your list and would also add 24.

actually they did mention YouTube in the 2005 episode

reply

Shrek is probably the most surprising omission. Harry Potter sort of was, but the books are more of a cultural phenomena than the movies.

reply

They should have mentioned Scary Movie.. it started a whole block of parody movies.

How about Donald Trump's Apprentice?

How about Martha Stewart and Lil Kim going to jail?

28 Days Later and Dawn of the Dead reamke were pretty big sleeper hits.

The X Box..

And I saw a clip of MTV's Cribs but I don't think they even talked about it.

i'm pretty sure they did not mentioned Ashlee Simpson's lipsynch mistake on SNL.. or how Jessica Simpson career blowing up big thanks to her not knowing what tuna was..

Or what about Glitter being such a big bomb for Mariah Carey

"I knew this guy, that knew this guy, that knew this guy, that knew this guy's cousin"

They did talk about Cribs. How everyone points to their bed and says "This is where the MAGIC happens..."

Did they mention Beyonce for 2003, cause if they didn't they should have. Crazy in Love was huge.

reply

I'm suprised they didn't talk about Training Day. It was one of the few times Denzel played a bad guy, and it won him an oscar.

I'm really surprised that the following things were not mentioned.

House,M.D(Although i think it will be better if this show isn't mentioned until the series Finale..so maybe it was for the best.
Nu Metal(To my knowledge Nu Metal became really popular in the 2000's)
Saw(Of course more movies are still being made so it will most likely be mentioned in part 2.)

I realize that all my favorite things will probably not be mentioned but the couple of things that i have mentioned were/are really popular so i was just genuinely surprised that they were not mentioned.

As far as i know none of them were mentioned, but if I'm wrong feel free to correct me.Someone on this thread did mentioned the fact that they will probably do a part 2 so hopefully these things and more will be mentioned.
