Scream (2022) vs Halloween (2018)

Which 'requel' do you prefer?

I watched both back to back last night. I've seen them twice and thrice repsectively now.

Scream;
- First viewing. March 2022. I didn't care for it much. Not an awful film but the worst of the franchise thus far. 6/10
- Second viewing. April 2023. Much better on a rewatch. Good slasher. I have more nostalgia for Scream 3 but this is probably better to be honest, bias aside. Superior to Scream 3 & 4. Lesser than 1 & 2. Solid entry into the franchise. 8/10

Halloween;
- Cinema viewing. October 2018. A great time, best Halloween film in 20 years at least if not more. Perhaps the best Halloween since 1988. 8.5/10
- Second viewing. October 2021. Prior to Halloween Kills. There is probably a reason I haven't rewatched this in 3 years and needed a new release to prompt me to revisit it as a refresher. Kinda mediocre. 6.5/10
- Third viewing. April 2023. It's an alright film but isn't improving with rewatches, each subsequent viewing is knocking points of it's score. 6.25/10

Watching both back to back I much prefered Scream. Rewatchability is huge for a film and the fact Halloween isn't holding up is a shame. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed revisiting Scream last night. Always great when a film improves on a rewatch.

This movie is an 8/10 for me too. A good relaunch.
