Evan's Character (spoilers)

She commits suicide, yes? Why???? Because of the abortion? Gimme a break....did I miss something?

It's as a result of Gosling's character losing his job. She probably knew that he was going to do, and that is what he did in the remainder of the film. She knew that his passion had no limits or boundaries.

And we know that the last person she called was Morrison...who knows what she said or he said that could have influenced her decision..

Plenty of things there really you can take

She's from a stern Catholic family. If the news came out that she got pregnant from a married man and had a abortion. I can't imagine that go down well.

Guilt of killing her unborn child

The amount of scandal involved surrounding her from sleeping with a Governor and potential next President of United States and his Campaign Manager and getting pregnant by one. She was going to end up a pawn in this if it came out, Molly didn't seem build to really to deal with that.

Ruining Morris's career would be another reason she would feel immense guilt. Although he's a married man and should know better. But Molly seemed like someone from what we seen that worried about others.

I think she loved Stephen, and after seen his career been ruined by this (although it really had nothing to do with her stuff) and that fact he became ice cold towards her once he found out she slept with Morris. Must have broken her heart.

Plenty of reasons there for Molly to commit suicide sadly.
