How about an Eggers Predator movie?

I'm serious. I don't know if Eggers is aiming for a more mainstream audience, this certainly seems his most accessible movie so far, whilst still very much in his style. Both his previous movies (The VVitch and Lighthouse) also did a good job evoking a period atmosphere with a sinister/supernatural undertone.
Back to Predator, judging from the new movie due out this year, it seems like after The Predator failed, they're continuing the franchise by going back in time/history, given how good the action scenes were in The Northman and Eggers's gift for dark movies set in the past, it'd be cool to see to see something as leftfield as him tackling a Predator movie (after his Nosferatu project, of course). Whether he'd be interested in working on a major franchise is something else, but I think he could come up with something pretty unique.

1. Eggers has already said he has no interest in making a movie set in modern times. and 2. Especially in today's MCU-saturated cinematic environment, I'd love to see Eggers create a few films that tap into his own style. I know branding consistency is an important thing for studios (and the masses lol) but I always thought it'd be cool to create truly different films that revolve around the same core subject material.

It's a big of a leap but I can totally see why The Northman's intensity made you think of the Predator.

Funny, I've just watched Redlettermedia's review of Northman and Jay said he'd dread Robert Eggers doing a Marvel movie. I've not read/watched any interviews with him (Eggers, not Jay), but in the case of Marvel or any other massively popular franchise, eg DC or Star Wars I could imagine him being a poor fit, as from what I've heard, the producers behind Marvel, DC, etc, tend to micro manage their movies, thus killing any individuality by executive meddling. (RLM suggested that Nicole Kidman was cast in Northman at the studio's behest, possibly.)
Back to Predator, it's a series pretty much on its knees after the last one, so it seems they're (Disney) more willing to take risks with the series. At least the new one (Prey) is looking good from the new trailer, and is still a period piece of sorts (1700s).
In the case of Northman, I saw some very Conanesque scenes, like the "bearserker" raid and the ghost scene (very reminiscent of Conan 1981), so I guessed Eggers is a fan of some pulpy action. In honesty, watching this (The Northman, that is), I felt this is what the 2011 Conan reboot should have been like, or at least closer to. (Although Momoa did make a good Conan).

Hmm the micromanagement sounds about right. It's actually part of the reason why I'm upset that X-Men went back to Marvel but everyone's so excited. I feel like the MCU is not as heterogeneous as I want it to be. It's still fairly safe popcorn fare for the most part. We're not gonna see a drama like Logan (amazing) or a horror movie like The New Mutants (not so amazing unfortunately). Good point though, even if Eggers did some marvel property, it might feel hollow.

lol yeah my brother is a big conan fan and he felt northman was ripping off a few things. I guess northman is kind of a modern fulfillment to that type of action? I just saw it as this strange arthouse adventure (that I thoroughly enjoyed).

But yeah, if Prey works out, it'd be neat if Eggers was given a shot with it. It would have to be more of a drama, but you're right, I'm sure Disney would be open with more risks there.

Renowned fart fetishist Robert Eggers would likely have the Predator ripping unholy amounts of ass, that would probably be how it kills it's prey. By farting on them.
