'New Year's Day' - Unwatchable

This is the first episode I've seen and I must say it's unwatchable. The film making and editing are HORRIBLE! So much camera movement and quick splicing. It gave me a headache.

I thought music videos were bad but this thing takes the cake!

I agree! This was a very poor episode. It did have potential, but it was ruined by not just the dismal camera work, but the constant flashbacks to her new years eve party and her love life. We didn't even see the character she was supposed to be madly in love with until quite far into the episode. It was hard to care, at all. So I always just wanted it to get back to the action in the present day.

Oh, and the twist was a new form of ridiculous. Well actually, it was so unbelievable that she would kill herself over a loser like that. She was portrayed as being a bit different, and a bit paranoid with some troubles in her life where she needed support... but NOT suicidal. That was a total copout

Most of the episodes were superior, especially 'Eater' and 'Spooked' which were very good works of suspense horror and tragic horror respectively.

This episode had enormous potential. The lighting was good and very creepy, the premise was quite original, the acting was passable.

I loved the transitions between the present day and the party - VERY clever.

However, for me, the editing RUINED this show. It was just poor and amateurish and served to confuse than tell the story.

Also, those ridiculous blurring-slow-frame effects were way overdone and yet inconsistent with the story-telling. It was like even the editor got bored with doing them.

If this episode was recut by someone who knew what they were doing, it would be something very special indeed.

I worked on this episode, and probably seven others, and the set for this particular one was toxic. The director didn't know what they wanted, everyone was running around, frustrated actors and extras. It was a nightmare. The last shoot day went 21 hours because they didn't get the shots they wanted in time on the previous days. Rubbish.

Just watched it. It was great! I am a big fan of Darren Lynn thus I loved the camera work, editing etc.

The lead acress Evigan was astonishing and the twist was just whoa..

I've only watched that, "in sickness and in health", "family man", and I'm on weird animal one now... I can't remember what it's called haha. But New Years Day is the best so far, IMO! That girl did great, and I loved the ending. Cute in a way haha

Actually, New Year's Day was pretty much my favorite episode. I've rewatched it 2 or 3 times. Despite its execution flaws, plot holes, and amateurish feel, it was far from being unwatchable. It's not easy to be original when it comes to zombies, and I think this episode somehow managed to be original, as it involves some uncommon elements. Maybe it's not the greatest horror flick ever made, but it's more than decent. Not to mention that I have a thing for Briana Evigan.

Ok all zombie movies are basically the same. They are like hostage movies, they are all the same and the endings are predictable. It is just the matter where they take place. I just was not crazy about the lead actress and the jerky camera work. And the flipping back in time. And heads up for the person who mentioned that was the guy from Glee.

I hated it.

Clark's destiny = Superman, Lex Luthor & Lois Lane.

I just sat through the whole of this episode, and I feel like I've been s*at upon from a very great height. The camerawork and editing were so appalling and amateurish, how could they unleash such garbage on the public? The tennis match narrative was ridiculous, and the characters less nuanced than Dick, Jane and Spot. I'm sure something entertaining could have been built around the twist at the end, but not by this lot, who shouldn't be let near anything other than a music video.

If this is the kind of bilge they're teaching them to make in film school, the school should be blown up. If these "filmmakers" haven't been to film school, then they bloody well need to go.

I thought this episode was extremely creepy and effective.
