pretty decent

OK.... I think making Stathom a superhero-like character whose every shot hits, while everyone else is too slow is a bit of an overkill.

In general, however, I liked the film. I'm not a big fan of G. Ritchie style - and he certainly has one, much like Quentin Tarantino. In this case, however, he reverted to normal storytelling - with no weird characters. The film played out like an action film mixed in with suspense. There were new revelations that kept coming to various questions throughout the film, all the way until the last quarter.

The questions regarding the Statham's real identity, the heist team, etc - they kept me glued to the screen, while the revelations were coming at a decent pace. I do think they revealed the team's identity a bit too early, but then there was a matter of the 7th person and that was revealed near the final quarter of the film, which is when it went full action. The action bits were pretty decent, but.... I don't think turning Statham's character into a J. Bourne-like figure made a whole lot of sense. Let's just say it was a tiny bit unrealistic.

I'm reading some negative comments on the board.... I suspect many people were hoping for the G. Ritchie style film and were disappointed. I'm, on the other hand, pretty surprised that G. Ritchie can direct an action-suspense film without mixing in his usual humor/weirdness.

All in all, I really liked this film, despite its flaws. It's way better than the usual J. Statham movie. It's also very different from the usual G. Ritchie movie - so be ready for that.
